no florida meet next week details inside

Jamie, if your willing to drive over to my place, I can offer the use of my lift. It shouldn't take that long to swap a trans. Whenever you decide to change it that is.

If he can get a 69K 98 trans and do the J-Mod, it would most likely last the cars lifetime. If it has to have a stall, I'll leave the topic alone. The lift offer above and less than $10.00 for the J-Mod, I would be back rolling by the end of the weekend. Having a hard enough time getting rid of the Sniper tune and getting another PCM with an SCT tune, much less one that's tuned for a 3000, 3500 stall.

Jamie, the 98 trans I swapped out electrical internals with had 69K too and when I got inside it, it was clean as hell. All I knew about it is that it came from Florida and the mileage and I got it for $250. Done the J-Mod to it in about 30 to 45 min and had the pan on, put new front and rear seals in for $10.00 each and it was ready to be put in the car. When I got it in, it was like a whole new car again. Had a slammin 2nd gear and unless you're going to be visiting the strip every weekend for races, why put a stall on it? That's something that can be done later. Right now, you need to be back on the road. Putting a 98 trans in with less than 70K is far from being a bandaid. If Rich says it's good, then it's good. Put the sh!t in and roll with it. Mine ain't even bad and I'd take that 98 right now and swap it just to be doing it, simply because the 98 is better.

I agree with Nolimit. In the end it is Jaimie's choice. You could do the stall later. Psychostang's lift will make short work of dropping the tranny now and again later for the stall. Just my 0.02.

the man has a plan...the good thing about stuff breaking is it gives you an opportunity to fix it the right way.

I hope you don't call adding a high priced stall a "right way fix"

That trans should need nothing more than seals and two $2.50 gaskets for the valve body when he does the J-Mod and it's good to go. Piss on parking it for who knows how long just because of a fukkin stall and u-joints. Nothing has been mentioned about u-joints before. Now they're broke too? The whole car is broke and has to be covered because it just has to have a stall and u-joints.... I just don't get it but it ain't mine.

It is apparent he is making this car into a different animal so yes the stall is necessary for his future plans...these cars should of come with a stall option from the factory along with a gear option and a trans option...then these cars would be on their fourth generation instead of a short lived two.

Like I said, I would have my car back on the road before I waited on the extra money for a high dollar stall. When you need transportation, you need transportation and like Jamie said, that's the reason him and his wife have two cars. She needs one for transportation for the kids and grocery shopping and w/e and Jamie needs his. Maybe he has other plans on transportation but throwing mine in the garage and putting a cover on it all because of a stall would not be an option for me. The 98 TC will be more than good enough for now. Do the beast sh!t later when money is there for it.

I am with you on everything you are saying...if you want a beast make it your toy not your horse...my opinion and no disrespect to him.

Andrew has a great idea. I will trailer the trans to Andrews and meet Jamie there. The trans shifts perfectly. Just put it in and go! It already has clean Mercon V in it. Don't call off the meet for this. I'm sure many people had to make special plans to get up there. I know I am calling out sick to be there, Alex had to get a motel, etc.

+1 good point!

Rich, even if he does do this, the fluid will still have to be drained because the electrical internals will have to be swapped and while he's in there, may as well spend 30 more minutes and j-mod it. All of it together, internal swap and j-mod can be done in less than an hour. He's done it before but it's good that it does have clean fluid. Just that alone is $6 X's 12= $72

I would go round up 12 or 13 milk jugs if I had to just to save the fluid. I would be all over this offer. Hell, if he thinks his fluid is fresher and cleaner, he could use his own.

I'm not able to attend but, since some of you already have plans and Jamie has his hands full, why not simply move the location to a different causeway or pavilion?

Those of you organizing, just work out the logistics now. If Jamie can attend, he can attend at the new location. There's no point in putting all the pressure of the event on him at the moment.

The only problem is that current plans infringe on another car group that Jamie is friendly with. So, change the location and make it Lincoln specific. Hell, it doesn't even need to be a picnic, you could just do it at the original Hooters in Clearwater on Gulf to Bay.

Jamie, I hear your pain, and you probably wanted to show and go with the new look of your car you have been working on lately, and I do not blame you. But I think you should keep the meet on for all that planned on it with you and just take the wifes car to the meet. It is a weekend meet so no need for 2 cars at that time from my thinking.

Deal with the car as you wish, but this maybe what you need also to relax and have a good time and meet and greet.

I do not honestly think you are endless in resources as you retaliated against the others that commented here. I think it had to do with the shop and the upgrades you have been doing lately and show and post as you been doing that some may think you have resources to take care of this tranny issue.

I know you don't, you are married, enough said on that one. Hell, people ask me all the time, do you have a few bucks I can borrow? And I immediately come back at them with "Dude I am married" and then they go ok.

I would not go off the handle with others that have responded as I do not see any ill intent to suggest otherwise. I see people trying to give their help by anyway they can by either suggestions or leads to other trans, either it be used or JY finds or a way to fix. A JY find to you may be a insult to suggest that to you, but to someone else, it would be welcomed.

Just take it easy and it will work out. But lashing out to others for lack of true help or suggestions as you stated in the way you did not want is not right.

You are in my eyes a descent man, this is not a lash out at you but calm words to a internet forum buddy. :D

ok since everyone knows what is best for me here is the deal, you guys want to have a meet, go have a meet, i have a car to fix, and right now the last thing i care about is giving up a weekend to have a meet while my car sits broken, i will be fixing the car that weekend, i only have 2 days, plus whatever i can manage to get done friday after work. i am NOT GOING TO THE MEET, i already said i am sorry, so please drop the subject, i planned two previous meets, and half the people who said they were coming never showed, so why am i supposed to feel bad this time that i cant go?
i told andrew i appreciate his offer on the lift deal, but i'd rather do it in my shop, where my tools are, and i know where everything is, this isn't my first rodeo i have had my own shop for 8 years with no lift, and done plenty of tranny swaps so i will just do it in my shop, i would never save used fluid, so the suggestion to save it is no for me, i dont care if it was put in last week. there is alot more to do to my car then simply change the trans and be up and rolling, and i dont care how long it takes, i am not setting a land speed record to change my trans so i can entertain everyone at howard park, this is my car, and i dont rush :q:q:q:q. i have my new diff to put in, why not do it when half the car is apart, i have my intake and valve covers to do, i have a larger trans cooler to install, this is not just swap a trans, so as far as everyone saying just do this and just do that and be done, i will fix the car my way thanks, and why on earth would i not do a stall now while the tranny is out, like i have all kinds of free time to pull the trans out again down the road for a convertor, you ever hear the saying measure twice, cut once? same thing applies here its just common sense. i appreciate the offers and the advice but i know what i am doing and i know why i am doing it so just chill with telling me how to fix my own car.

Change the meet to your shop, cool guys can help, people you don't like....if they show... junk punch.

Either way, post pics of that engine bay when your done so I can be jealous ;)

if people want to come to my shop i would be more than happy to do that, i know it isnt the same, but i have no problem with that, just bring chairs and we can have a cook out at my shop thats fine but i wont be much a host if i am under my car, i have a grill we can use charcoal to cook in, i have a microwave, a regular size fridge, bathroom, stereo, tv, dvd player, about 40 dvds i mean its my other house. i would be cool with people showing up, as long as everyone leaves me alone or gets dirty with me!!!

Wish I could make it, I'll be hanging with some other LVC homey's this weekend.

Issue resolved, alternate meeting grounds. Now who is still in? With everyone there, job done in couple hrs.

no thats just it, i dont want everyone hanging around my car talking to me, stay away, thats why i say bring chairs and hang out outside next to the overhead door, i'm trying to give people a place to go, since i dont want everyone to invade jake's trail blazer meet, if i am not there that wouldnt be cool, i dont want jake upset that i pawned off 20 people on him. but i also dont like to talk when i am working, a few people here already know that, when i work, i am focused and dont want to be bothered, nor do i want 10 people trying to help me, i appreciate the thought, but honestly i work much better alone, why do you think i almost killed derek trying to put his motor in with his help, i dont like help, company, sure no problem, but help, i would rather fix my car myself!

...gets dirty with me!!!

You lead people on! :shifty:

Man, when I have you working on my junkheap sure, you work alone and don't want help, but you are always cracking jokes and bitching about how sh*tty my car is put together, you act like you're so tough and such a damn loner. Pshhh.... ;)

Regardless of your car, etc. I'd come up to BS with everyone and watch you throw tools, if anyone else is going. I'll be sure to break something in my car so you can throw a brick through my windshield and light it on fire.

So, you are gonna do the trans the weekend after this coming one?

yes i am gonna start pulling my car apart this weekend, i need the trans out, gat tank out, drive shaft out, rear diff out, intake off, valve covers off, i got plenty to do this weekend too. next weekend i will be putting the car back together.
