Hi.
I have 2001 LS. I bought it a little over a year ago.
It has it's 4th motor in it that's now broken too and now the warranty company doesn't want to do anything to fix it despite it was their own cheapness on getting used motors with preexisting problems and not wanting to do anything about it till it was to late to begin with.
The original motor spun a rod bearing. So did the 2nd (motor didn't last 2 months), same as 3rd (motor didn't last 2 weeks), the 4th did the same and is now seized up (didn't last a week).
So now I'm just think I'll start a build with it and have some fun. I want to get the 4.6L since I've had a bad history with the 3.9L. Any help and/or suggestions would be great, especially with the computers in the car. I can't seem to find any info online regarding ways to tune and reflash the thing (i may just be blind trying to find it).

4 motors? that went badd? thats a major FAIL, you should just shoot your mechanic in the head asap.

U need a lawyer to force warranty company to honor their warranty work.

^^^ +1 ^^^ Like you said it was their cheapness that has caused the failures. Make them get a brand new motor installed.

spun bearing is very unusal in these motors. To have 4 of them is next to unbelievable.

there are 100s of thread on the 4.6L swap. Though your issues hardly seem to have anything to do with the 3.9L

Mine spun a bearing around 50-60K miles. They put a new bottom end in and reused the intake manifold and everything else. I paid a $100 deductible, and the job totaled around $6K covered by Ford. Now I'm approaching 110K and I've been spraying nitrous since the warranty was up at 75K.

92K origonal motor. Runs like a top and I beat on it also. Sounds like warranty company needs a lawsuit.

The 4.6 swap is suprisingly easy. There are a lot of people on this forum who have done it. Just do a search to find the step by step instructions with pics.

into an ls? i havent seen this except fords a few years ago. you may be thinking markviii?

Maybe bmx was being sarcastic by thinking that a 4.6 swap into a Mark VIII would be different than what it came from the factory with :D

That's right. The 460 swap is the difficult one.

How bout the 2jz swap with nas?

oldie but a goodie.

Thanks for the thread link. That's similar to what i was looking for.
I figured the swap would've been something that's been all over this board but i'd rather make an ass out of myself and save time then spend what little free time i get searching through 30k+ threads.

My warranty company is National. All they kept doing was getting used motors with no history kept then basically paid Brien Ford to swap the motor and only the motor. I don't really think it's anything Brien Ford could have really done cause they are only doing what they were getting paid for despite what not only myself but Brien Ford has told National what needs to be done.
I still have all the service invoices and my grandfather knows the owner of Brien Ford. I'm getting ready to sue, but we're going to see what the Attorney General can do for us first.

sounds like you could have an oiling issue or your overrevving the piss out of it. i dont really know why it would happen on multiple motors though. driver mod?
