New wheels and tires + lowered (daytime pics)

My take on the springs is it feels like a better ride now... I am not sure why, I am sure it partly has to do with having brand new tires. But the turns and stuff feel alot smoother and I can definitely tell it is a firmer spring.

Most of all I love how much they lowered the car, it turned out exactly how I wanted. Fixing the front end is going to be what tops it off. I can't wait to wash it! it has been so long!
 
WOW! Thats is NICE!!!!!!!!!!! Look funny though. Looking all beasty with a lower stance and new rims and then you get to the front and WOW! Some teeth are missing. Sweet ride man. What a transformation Can't wait to see that lse bumper with the angel eyes on.
 
Looks great! I was actually looking at those rims the other day and thought they would go great with the direction I am going with mine. Did you run into any rubbing issues? Also what is the tire size?

Actually I can't even think of the name of where I got the springs, I called a guy that someone on this forum recommended after he found them and I ordered via phone. They were $150 shippt.


Also the windshield is not tinted.... yet

I will probably eventually do like a 40% or 50% on the windshield
 
It's beautiful...CLEAN!!!..thumbs up. I see you got the LSE bumper and fogs. I suggest putting some type of clear 3M film on those fogs, they can get pitted very fast from gravel and rocks. I love black on black. I suggest you get it detailed and sealed. Once the paint is sealed you are good for 6 or so months, all you have to do is wash once in a while and top it off with some detailer spray.

Most importantly, how is the ride with the new springs? I had tokico blues on my 97 maxima GLE, and while the handling was extremely good, every bump felt like an IED going off under the car. I can't lower the car in Brooklyn :(
 
Thanks guys. I really wanna wAsh it and give I a nice detail but I see no point washing a wrecked car. I have gotten alot of comments on the wheels though :)
 
Looks awesome, And! I've got to get my Eibachs on my 2006, and am wondering if anyone with an 05/06 had to buy the alignment kit for them (bah, should have put that in a separate post).

Give it a quick wash. You dont have to go crazy and detail it, but just take the dirt off. It's just the front thats still a little jacked up.
 
Also, run down to carquest, and pick up some duragloss total performance polish (105) and duragloss aquawax (951 IIRC). I use that combo on wheels all the time, and looks amazing.
 
Yea I may giv it a real quick wash this weekend or next week when it's above freezing.


I will do that Pektal thanks. Do I just wash with my shampoo then use bth of those?
 
Yep. I actually use 3 of their products. I start with their marine polish (501), then top with 105, then spray on the aquawax over the top.

Are those wheels clearcoated?
 
I have no idea. But I would say yes. Thy have a glossy feel kn the painted parts. Exception being the machined spokes of course
 
Here's a quick way to tell. Take a small amount of metal polish, and rub a little on a really small area of the wheel. If the rag turns black, you have uncoated metal, and will need to really keep up with them to keep them nice.

If it doesn't turn black (you should be able to tell within 5 seconds), then your wheels are clearcoated, and will be easier to care for.

I got sick of the dude in OKC @ CertiFit not caring for me calling once a week asking about the Hood. So I just ordered a hood from a place in Dallas, screw local pickup, that guy obviously doesn't have a clue when they're getting more LS hoods as it has been "call back in two weeks to check" for the past 6 weeks.

Had to pay a little extra since there was shipping, but whatever lol. I wanna get this thing done@!

Hoping since I am just a state north, shipping will be quick and I can get it and the bumper painted at the same time here pretty soon.
 
I know I am bumping my oldish thread, but I thought I would give a little review on what I thought of the springs/wheels so far.

Look-wise: It is perfect. I love how it sits and I think the wheels look great, gave my car totally new character. Also the new lowered look is amazing.


Feel-wise: I can definitely feel the stiffer springs, and going from stock tire size to low profiled 19s obviously is going to give a little rougher ride. I would say I was not expecting it to be THIS different, but I am still fine with it as in general it is still great, but on bumps you can definitely feel them probably 2-3 times more than with stock setup.

Additional Comments: This is more of a question rather than a comment, but ever since I put on the new wheels/tires and springs - my steering wheel has a very slight whine and/or friction feeling to it in a few spots when turning, it seems to be @ about a very wide angled turn or when switching lanes, it sounds like it comes from the actual steering wheel. I am going to set it up on stands this weekend and to some testing with the wheels in the air, but did anyone else get a steering wheel noise with the lowered car?


Overall: If you're willing to sacrifice some ride quality to gain visual quality, I say new springs and wheels are a definite must. I am re-in love-love with my LS, I already loved it, now I love it even more. I cannot wait to get the new bumper and hood on and get this thing cleaned up!

Glad you're happy with the set up.

I was going to say that larger wheels will put more strain on your steering, since they are heavier but i have had 18s on a vehicle before that were wider than what you have and didn't notice anything.

It's normal for the steering box to make a noise when you cut the wheel very wide (all the way left or right) but it shouldn't make that noise while changing lanes. Have you checked the power steering fluid level? If you haven't make sure the car is at operating temperature before you do.

Also, check your tire pressure.
