I just bought a 93 mark VIII over the weekend for $500. They hit a deer, but surprisingly didn't cause too much damage. It runs great, they just didn't want to take the time to look for parts, so it sat for a year and a half. I originally bought it with the intentions of doing a motor swap into my 04 V6 Mustang with a cracked head. I also have a 93 Ranger, but I've been chasing an overheating problem with no luck. So, the plan quickly became, fix up the Mark for now, while accumulating the other parts necessary for the swap.

The problem is that since I've started working on this car, I'm starting to really like it. Not necessarily a bad thing, until I look over at my dead pony. Who knows, I may just have to keep the Mark, and pull a 4V out of another Mark.

Anyhow, I picked up the car saturday. Sunday, after doing the Mother's Day thing, I went to the local Pull A Part and found a matching hood, good header panel, good head and corner lights, driver side airbag/steering wheel cover, and a K&N air filter. All for only $113. Then yesterday on Craigslist, I found the chrome trim for above the headlights for $35 and a grille for $80. Granted, neither are local, but both are willing to ship.

This is coming together nicely.

Pics i got emailed to me before purchase...

Obviously have more to do, but I can't wait to start driving it.

Meh, he may be a cannibal.

Be careful.......:p

J/K, welcome aboard and good luck. Give the Mark a chance, it will grow on you. :)

Haha, I was kinda planning on doing the same thing when given my Mark, but then was told by my mom that under no circumstances was I to trade it in for another car or start using it to build a stang, ( I've owned 6 different Mustangs including a 67 Shelby and a 00 Saleen S281) , once I got the Mark runnin, it quickly grew on me
now there's no way I'd ever get rid of it
grats on getting a '93 ( we are the fastest Marks "out of the box" )
Welcome to LVC

Don't ever underestimate our Mark's. You will fall in love. Best part about it? Throw in a full blown dual exhaust, x-pipe, Magnaflows, some Cobra wheels/speedstar wheels, or equivalent & it will turn heads. Not too many out there + it truly is an amazing car.

Thanks, guys. Like I said, the more I work on it, the more I want to keep it as is. I even went as far as pulling my stereo out of my stang to put in the Mark. Parts are supposed to come from the Mark to the stang, not the other way around!:D I DID find a 5.4 4V with 44k on it for $950. May have to go check that out...

Not much progress yesterday, tho. Had to get the police check done and get it plated. Did some cleaning to the interior, and like I said, switched out the stereo.

Question: What is the best adhesive for reattaching the rear view mirror?

Just checked fedex and the grill is sitting in front of my house right now. Can't wait til 5. May have to leave early.

5.4 dohc wont fit into a mark the deck height is too tall putting your heads into the ft shock towers

for the rear view just get some rear view mirror glue from your local parts store

I understand that. It's not stock, but it's still slow. I know my place...

i got laughed at by some idiot in a 5.slow sn95 it was covered in every sticker that even was remotelly close, it was a king cobra/boss/svt/cobrajet/"R" :slam: with fendervents and a park bench on the trunk. he pointed to the cobrastars on the fender and laughed.........till i left him at the light like he was in neutral

after one good long road trip you'll forget all about that stang!

Snake, nice Stang.

Is that an 04 GT with 99/01 Cobra front bumper, 03/04 Cobra headlights, Mach1 chin spoiler, Mach1 grill delete, S197/Shelby wheels, trunk wing delete and ..... well not sure about the side scoops. ABC?

Thanks, but no, it's just a sixxer. 2004 Pony Package edition. I got it brand new for dirt cheap. Paid it off in a couple years, and have enjoyed not having a car payment. I will never buy the base model of a car again.

That being said, I still love the car. What happened was, I installed c/c plates and new struts. I needed to take it to get aligned. Well, having long tube headers and being lowered doesn't bode well on those cars. The guy at the alignment shop nailed the bottom of the headers while trying to get the car on the rack. Cracked head. They won't do :q:q:q:q.

Anyhow, yes, it is a 99/01 front bumper. Someone threw their truck in reverse in a drive through and put their hitch through my bumper. The guy happened to be a UPS driver and had just gotten paid. Got $600 on the spot from him. Cost me about $400 total for new bumper and paint. Mach one chin/grill delete, spoiler delete, stock v6 side scoops, and those wheels. They aren't from S197, as mine are 18x8.5 and 18x10. As far as I know, S197s only came in 16. I bought mine from OE Wheels Direct. They are called Cobra 340. I wish the dish were deeper, but I still have yet to see another stang with those wheels, so that's what I like best about them.

Well then thats the nicest sixer Stang I ever saw. Really like it. The side scoops were throwing me off though! Would have never guessed a V-6 car though. Well with that much work into it then I would just slap a blower on it and embaress some GTs out there. :D

drivin the mark to work tomorrow. got everything put all back together, minus the passenger corner light and the chrome trim across the front. both of which should be here hopefully friday or saturday. too dark out for pics, just finished.

edit: bad cell pic

Keep it up, Love my Mark have had it like 5-6 years, does everything I need and as a 14 year old car it still is the coolest looking car in the parking lot at work

Its come a long way in a week. Total invested so far, about $800 + fuel to pick it up...

Still got work to do, especially on those headlights. I also need to figure out what to do about the suspension. It needs ball joints, too.
