so you sucked at mark VIII's? life definatly goes on Jamie dont loose hope ive been in that same boat man, you'll be ok.
Oh well, I guess I sucked at being a husband too. Life goes on
Hey, too much sucking causes bad habits!........ Wait, how does a 6 year old thread come to this?!?!?!?![]()
I'll bring you all the headlamps if you're interested; if not, I totally understand.
I can make a set of chrome replacement internal pieces on my vinyl machine, we have 10 year chrome thats 6mil thick!! I can make a vector path from a paper template and then cut them out.
Doing ok? No. Alive and staying busy yes, interested in headlights absolutely not I am not doing anything related to these cars anymore it's a chapter I closed last June, when I closed my shop for good also, I rarely even come here anymore. I lost all interest.
What is it with you and these mark comments, where do you get this from? I just bough my blazer why do you think I want a mark VIII? And thanks for the beer offer too but almost never drink, maybe once a year if I'm lucky.
I did my own...inside and out, better the new and holding! I can see now!!!

Excellent! Did you separate the lenses or just cut a hole in the side?
Sorry!..please let me explain. The headlights are original to the car. After years and years of not being able to see, I decided to do something about it. Cut lenses off, re-chromed inside with chrome rocker panel tape (I know what your thinking! it doesn't melt or change color tho) Removed obstruction over light bulb and left off, cleaned inside and glued lenses back on. Then sealed with silicone. Still need to polish outside but as of right now I CAN SEE! real good too. I work nights and use the lights every night, no problems and it only cost $15. Took some time to do but was worth every penny!! I bought this car at 5 years old and the lights are better now then they were then.
Would luv to have HID's but for the price you can't beat it! Did this a few months ago and my lights are on during the day also and no damage to the tape yet, I look everyday. Not sure why the lights are on during the day, I think it's something with the dash sensor. It's amazing the difference it has made. Not sure what you call the thing that covers the light bulb? Maybe a defuzer or something, I left them out during re assemble. You can only do this once maybe twice if your lucky as the lenses get shorter every time you cut them off but when (if) they go bad again the HID's will have to go in.Do you use HID's? If not, please do because those 65 watt halogens will burn the chrome tape you put in, with time. HID's will not and the light output is much much better.

Ohhh man, you left that part out.... That kinda keeps you from blinding the oncoming traffic. HID's and get a HID relay kit for around $10 to $15 and you'll have light like you never imagined. You have your DRL switch on. Turn it off. It's right there at the headlight switch.

That was my 1st thought. Switch is off, but every once in a while during blinding sun light they will go off but not very often as far as blinding other drivers that is why I went with the 3200K and not any brighter. Still not blinding and nobody flashes me which is another reason I haven't polished the outside yet...lol. I just wanted to be able to see and not kill the other drivers, but I will check out your link.Ohhh man, you left that part out.... That kinda keeps you from blinding the oncoming traffic. I know if I polish the outside that they will be bright bright. I'm afraid if I get them too bright without the defuzer thing in their that there's no turning back. I would hate to get pulled over ever other day. I can always go with a brighter bulb, but as far as the lenses go once their polished it will be hard to go dimmer. You're working with a headlight that is what? 1 1/2" tall? And the headlights are how high off the ground? Maybe 20"?
I see those big Dodge & Ford trucks with 12" x 12" clear headlamps with HIDs - THAT is blinding - 144" square inches of HID light that is about 48" off the freaking ground. I HATE THOSE THINGS coming towards me and coming up behind me.
Dam, now that's what I call a close up pic...lol. I didn't Have much of a choice, the defuzer was so rusted it would have made lights still impossible to see with and they were melting the top of the inside housing. If I were to put HID's in with rested defuzer and no reflected material I believe I would still not be able to see. Had to do something with inside no matter what. I figured that was cheap to try and if it didn't work, then...new lights would be installed. I've been reading post of parts being hard to come by, and I have found that it's not true around here anyway. I guess time will tell. That piece is what helps to make your low beam, "beam" and not just spread all over.
This mine on the inside with the HID's in.

Wow! Those are nice, I may have to look into a set of those. Where did you get your side lights at?Not all parts but a lot of them are and were only made up until 2008, such as OEM air shocks and as for our headlight housings, Gen 1's were probably shut down in 2006-2008 and the price is only going to go up higher and higher as certain places that have them in stock start to run out of stock.
Now, back to your lights. If you cut the lens down so far that the diffuser couldn't be put back in, HID's wouldn't fit anyway. My HID's go all the way to the very end of that thing. The housings, if you were going to re-chrome them, can be put in the oven on about 225 for about 10 minutes and I think with some pulling force, they'll come apart without any cutting. If you could swing these right here, you'd be set. All you'd need is to install some HID's in these and then you would never have to worry about heat burning the chrome again. These are just like new ones and the price can't be beat. I'm almost tempted to get them and set on them.
