How much you think this is gonna run me?

Happened this morning as my vehicle was being towed to the dealer for some maintenance. Tow truck driver got too close to a parked vehicle and and creased the fender in. No frame damage and didnt touch the wheel or tire.

The vehicle was an old 2 door pickup with a chrome bumper...nothing happened to it besides a small scuff. The doors outside panel got a a little tweaked as well...think it can get bent back.

Does anybody have any a painted fender in good condition?

I know a new one will run me at least $300.

I believe those "replacements" are steel though, as opposed to our aluminum...

I had to drive all the way to Detroit to find my Silver Frost fender :/

OEM new aluminum fender $500. I had about the same damage with a jammed door, came to about $1,700 that I requested with a OEM fender instead of repairing original fender.

sorry buddy, glad its not any worse.... What DID the tow company say

Black I am hurting for you. We know how you treat your LS so it matters.

Not rubbing insult to injury but is it me or is the door damaged as well? Right by the side molding.

I got a used fender Off ebay for about $150. Just get any color and have it painted. It is super easy to put on.

Why was it going to the dealer?

Not cool man! Why was your car being towed fo maintenance? From your post it seems like you will have to pay for the damage? Like other members, I'm wondering why it isn't someone elses fault unless you wre driving the tow truck.

The tow company has insurance for a reason. Don't let them get away with this.

That sucks man, I'd be furious.

I was trust me.

The tow company won't pay for it?

Try car-part.com, I ended up getting two fenders is like new shape for $100 each. One one the fenders had a little paint chip on the edge close to the wheel. Not even noticeable unless you're looking up under the fender.

You can also get one new "Replacement" for $200. http://www.jcwhitney.com/replacemen...ID=d1403y2006j1&SCID=froogle&06LiLSRep1043538 other sites have them also, this was the first one I came across.

Thanks for the site im looking now.

As long as it works i dont care. It could be fiberglass for all i care.

My door isnt jammed....it wont open because of the fender but the only thing i see visibly wrong is a small bent portion and a scuff right there on the trim.

We have agreed to keep it between us...im getting cash in hand and we are not going through insurance.

Yes a small portion is bent but i see nothing else wrong.

Why was it going to the dealer?

Just to get some matienece taken care off. Replacing the v-belt, some pulleys and oil change. Not a ford dealer but where a relative of mine who is a mechanic works out of.

No it was his fault and he agreed to pay.

Yeah im aware....because of the minor damage i think it will be ok to just do a cash deal.

Just a warning - the "replacement" steel fender my body shop ordered when I had some damage never lined up properly.

Just go get a used one from a scrap yard.

Anything 2000-2006 will work

Update.

The driver made a claim through insurance. Might as well do it right.

Thanks for the kind comments.

I hate that it happened but only reason i didn't flip out on the guy is because things happen in life that test us. I decided to act like an adult about it. If the vehicle were totaled i would have had a different reaction.

Not many loaded 06's out there. And yes i try to maintain it very well.

Sorry to be reading this about your car Black.

Good thing is nothing major happened, so it's easily fixable. Keep us in the loop.

Hold up. Doesn't the LS have to be flatbeded?

How did he drag it over a parked truck??

Why would it need to be flatbedded?

It was lifted up from the rear, with the parking brake disabled and attached to his rig from the rear tires. The front tires were the only ones rolling and he was trying to moved from a covered parking spot in my apt complex. Side swiped the corner of a chrome truck bumper.

I guess if i would have requested a flatbed this wouldint have happened. They are much safer. I just didn't want to run the vehicle without a V-Belt.

I know the LS doesnt have a steering lock....it was only towed for 6miles.

As I recall my body shop charged the other party's insurance about $600 to reshape and repaint my banged-up fender. Seemed like a lot but oh well I wasn't paying for it.

Damn that sucks. It will all turn out right. At least you were not in a serious accident.
