Keep in mind that only helps if you have a customization rider on your policy and then only up to the max amount in the rider. The base value will still be the same.

You can fix it!

I've been told they had beefier engines. I had a early 94 (made in 93) and she was wild, without the lag at 45-50 and drive shaft didn't throb at 50-60.

FIX HER STANG, I'm sure you have a friend or two close by that could pitch in!!!!!

When my 97 was total I was still making payments on it and honestly after dealing with the insurance I would not finance another mark VIII. That's why this time around when I got my 98 I found one that was cheap enough and needed just a little bit of work. Honestly thought if its the car you wanted in the first place. Fix it, I'm sure you wont regret it. On the bright side you already know the things you have done to it and what you need to do to it. When you buy a new one, you will be starting all over again. Which can be fun sometimes.

Thats what I thought too... making payments on a wreck would blow

I love my lincoln... It's MY lincoln... no other lincoln would be the same to me... I found that car for a reason.
 
Did it bust the radaitor?? If not do what i did and pin the hood shut, buy a new headlight header panel and lights and drive it!!!

Yes it busted the radiator, and the car started running funny as I was coming to a stop when it happened... I wonder if the fuel got cut off when the airbags blew?
 
Any hard wack to the front or rear should cut off the inertia switch(fuel cut off switch). Try pushing it back in and starting the car, just dont let it warm up.
 
Well, I called the claims dept. today.

My car's retail value is like 2,700 bucks...

Not too shabby. Now, I am just waiting for my receipts that I faxed in to show up at the desk of the dude handling my claim. so he can be blown away at the money I put in this car.

Worst case, I get my 2700, and an additional 1500 for the trans, maybe a few bucks for the sterio stuff, and I buy the car back for 3-400... and drive directly down to that pull and pay and buy the whole doghouse off that Midnight Opal car!!

Hopefully this turns out!!!
 
300-400 is alot, mine booked for 2500.00 with 87,000 mile and i bought it back for 186.72, my claims adjuster told me anything i had to do(like the suspention and trans) would NOT raise the value of the car at all.
 
300-400 was just a guess...

I'm going to call the guy back here in a minute and see what I cant get out of him.
 
You will be given the option to buy it from them for the same price your local salvage company would buy it for. You will have to surrender the title and plates to the state(before the check will be issued to you), then you will get a rebuildable title, once you fix it and provide all recipts for parts you will have to get it inspected by the sheriff, then apply for a rebuilt title. Its a fun process that takes about 1-2 months.
 
Just buy another one and save the headache. I rebuilt a 96 Sunfire (don't ask) with 10,000 miles on it back in '02 to drive as a winter car in Michigan and it was a PITA to do. They don't care about quality of work, they care about whether or not it has stolen parts and they want receipts.
 
It wasnt bad for me at all, i only turned in one receipt for the headlight header panel, i just told them i had the headlight already(thats all i replaced from my accident to get it road worthy again). It was more less do one step wait a week or two then another and wait again.
 
Shouldnt be too much of a problem for me then, because I bought the headlights and have a receipt, I will be buying a doghouse and will have a receipt, I'll be buying airbags and I might have a receipt, lol

I don't think they will care too much, I mean, it's ohio, lol

I'll just be glad to hear that straight-piped 4V purr again
 
Jesse, your damages don't look that bad. I had a similar fender bender back on my 93 in 2004. I didn't file it with insurance. I fixed it. With the help of junkyards, I was able to get everything, fender, hood, and front bumper. The grille was a little more challenging, but I found it. I would keep your Mark. Start a new thread, and show the rebuild process. I'm sure you're more than capable. It'll be fun. You've probably done a ton of suspension work and all the other stuff we talk about. Shame to let that all go away. I don't know how it is in Ohio, but here in Texas, if I buy a car back from them, it is usually $500 less than than the buy out price, and it is not totaled by the state. You can rebuild it. You can make it better, stronger, faster.

That's the plan thus far.

But unfortunately, the car will be a salvage title after this. But I don't plan on selling it. So that doesnt completely matter.

I do plan to make a rebuild thread. That will come. The ball is in State Farm's court now...

Not in I'll, if you buy the car back from the insurance company the title will never leave ur hands and it will remain a clean title. If it were my car I'd buy it back 2 part out and take the money 2 buy a nicer one. No offence but you could have never gotten 2700 for you car before it was wrecked. Take the money and save yourself the headache and buy another car.
 
To be clear, different states have different laws/procedures regarding buy backs from insurance companies and salvage titles. Here in WV, when they total your vehicle out you can basically buy it back and the title automatically becomes a salvage title after you have it repaired and inspected. I avoided that scenario by having the car fixed privately and negotiating the payment from the insurance company. In certain cases you may be better off not involving the insurance company - which is only legal if no other vehicle or property was damaged (like the deer example).
 
In my case, I am just broke so I had to involve the ins. co. I spoke with the guy today and I get like close to 4K back after deductable and buyback, so that should be more than enough to fix my car and get me back in action.

I'll probably pay the body shop to fix/replace the core support, then I'll bring it home and fix the rest of it myself.

The car is a salvage title, but I'll own that car til it falls apart like the Blues Mobile... So that means nothing to me.


I might have enough cash leftover to but some 460 headers for a fox!!
 
4 grand would have bought a damn nice Mark VIII. I only paid $2,000 for mine with 82K on it at the time, and in Ohio.

I can't seem to find a prime choice to buy... when what I want is what I have already. I can't stand gray or tan interior, I hate sunroofs... that eliminates about 90 percent of the cars I've looked at... plus... all the heaps on CL... the air suspension doesnt work... Mine does! well sorta..
 
Put the money in the bank and wait. I waited until the right opportunity came around. You seem to have enough other vehicles to drive until later.
