My brand new second hand wheel showed up!

So in my typical luck with crap I cant have the good without the bad. The drivers front tire was flat so I aired it up last night before I took it for a test drive. Well it was close to flat this morning so it must have a nail in it. At least it should be an easy and cheap fix when I have the new rear tires mounted today. Also there was only 19 lugs in the box and it seems I cannot buy a single Gorilla lug. :( So one wheel has aa regular lug on it and it already bugs me.
All minor though and to be expected with a used purchase, I am still happy with the deal and the seller.
But as this car always does to me..... nice new wheels = something else MUST break. Pushing it through a hard right turn the amp poped and shut down. Not a blown fuse so the ground may have loosened up but my money is on the amp just gave up the ghost and its power supply went out. I have heard the supply whistle a couple times and knew that ment it was going to fail soon, thats why I stopped trying to sell it. Its fixable for about $50 but I will just sell it really cheap and change my x-mas present request from a 4" driveshaft to a JL 500/5 :)

So here is the last pic before she goes in the shop.

That's what you get for being happy! Our Lincoln's don't like it when we're happy!

Looks good Laser and btw, you missed your parking spot. :D You slung the amp across the trunk is what you done, don't lie. You and your fast cornering lol. I can see it now, next week you'll have 4 spoke rims instead of 5.

I am not sure what happened. The amp is securly mounted and being a right turn the sub box didnt move. Just at the apex of the corner at the highest load it turned itself off. I poped the trunk and thumped the amp and the speaker poped for a second then nothing. I am 90% sure its the amps power supply.

Maybe I should start a thread on the best amp to get? :p

Just a heads up Laser, 2 of my Speedstars are leaking @ the bead because the chrome is peeling off from the inside. I actually took them to the shop today to be fixed. I think the ones that I have may have been from the first run because they're well worn. So if you don't find that nail.........

Cool, was a bad tire valve though and they swapped it out. I was watching them install the new tires just cause I was curious about the insides of the wheels. They are just as shiney as the outside with no pitting at all. Even the back part of the wheel that nobody ever cleanes is pretty pit free but when it gets back from the shop I will detail them and get rid of whats there so they will be all the way shiney. :D

Make sure to get a rag and put your fingertip inside and spray some Armor All on it and get the valve stems shiny too. And on the amp, just go with the 500/5 and shhhh lol, just get it.

See, what happened is last week, when you were bumpin "I can't dance" by "Genesis", you were burning the power supply up. Remember when you were showing the brothers up that had the two 12" Alpines? That song sounds good in the car too. It beats my mirror in the down position.

It was "Keep It Dark" and they had some 12" FI subs. :D
And I am getting the 500/5. They are just under $400 now and then another $20 for the remote sub gain knob. I think I will be very happy with it. Gonna sell the Xtant for $75 since its a fix thats under $50, be a good deal for someone that can opperate a soldiering iron. Hell, it was a $1300 amp new!

What you doing with your crome 10 spokes you had on it

Sold them to John. I have to polish them up after work tomorrow and then send them out to him. I was gonna polish them tonight but its 42* out and raining and I just walked in the door. I need the truck to deliver them anyway, things are 50lbs each and I under estimated the shipping. I am not gonna charge him more cause a deals a deal and he has been very patient. I hope there are as nice as he expects. No peals or pits and only one has a tiny bit of rash that you have to kneel down to see so I think he will be pleased. :)

Those wheels only saw the road for 5 mos out of the year.. the car got hand washed at minimum 3 times a week, and only for 2 years, no way they should be pitted ;)

They were actually the first ones, I was brads guinnea pig, he was curious if they'd fit on our cars like they did the t-bird, and I test fit them, very first ones on a mark ever. So the peeling the other guy's talking about isn't because they were an early set. They were probably driven in salt with tires that had curb protectors and never got cleaned out.

Glad you're happy bill!

Much more then happy, thanks for the good deal! I really love these wheels and am on pins and needles waiting for the body shop to finnish it! Its funny, the Kumahos you had on the rear rubbed quite a bit when doing over 65 on these country roads. Ended up screwing up that rubber covered metal strip that protects the wheel arch so I pulled it off. The new Generals are just as wide (I saw them side by side) but since their shoulder is just a tad more rounded it allows the tire to clear up to 80 mph on the bumps. Its a very minor rub too but I asked my shop to roll the fender a bit anyway.

BTW: Everyone these General tires are very shockingly good. In the rain I can go half throttle off the line with zero spin and a minimal bark going into second. When its dry they wont bark on the 1-2 shift and only spin a small ammount at WOT off the line. Car just squats and takes off now. They are quiet too and ride very well. Excellent tire for $175 each installed.

ugly valve stems :shifty: i love when people ask where they are

Whatever are you talkin' bout chicken???hehehe Those hidden valves are the shizzz.

Looks Good Laser!! That wheel is the predecessor to the CobraR and thats sayin ALOT...lol

Still got a pile of these things on the floor too if anyone wants a set..:D

Cheers!!

A pile on the floor? WTF? I have been asking about these wheels since I joined and you were out of them. :(

Oh well, at least they are the first set ever installed on a Mark. :D
So how much are they each shipped? ..... Maybe I dont want to know.

They have been available for quite awhile now...If I remember right you were holding out for Silver Speedstars..heh
