My $350 Mark Fix It Up Thread

Not to be a hard on, but did you paint that outside? I hope no overspray went on anything like neighbors cars or houses. I have had to have several cars of mine buffed due to people spraying outside in the open air. As a matter of fact my car is currently covered in little specs of paint fron the chuckleheads that rolled paint onto the community center I used to live near. Paint particles travel far and fast. I'd check with your neighbors to see if they have any specs.

But it is coming along quite nicely.

The Mark is coming back together. I've noticed that the door chime is chiming without the key in the ignition. What's the fix for this?

pull the ignition cyl, and there should be a small switch (poss orange) look at the cyl and watch that switch as you insert the key it should make contact and not when its removed, if thats ok check to see if the small metal tab that stays in the column and makes contact with that little switch is still in place, man i wish i had pics, just pop out the cly and you should see what im talkin about

I'm sitting here bored at work, and my car is about 10 feel away from me so I figured i'd help.

Well, I am keeping the 93 now. I've decided to keep my 93, and fix it up the way I want it. First thing, back to the drawing board with paint and let the experts handle it.

If you don't mind me asking, how much is that paint job setting you back?

Not much. These are all friends of mine who all have regular day jobs. I bought the paint and materials, and I paid $400 for the labor. So about $600.My CE is next, it gets the Royal treatment. ;)

OK, time for some update posts. I've been kinda busy at work, and my only time to work on my 93 is on the weekend. I stripped the entire interior out, in preparation for the Gen 2 black interior. I was going to go with the my gen two door panels, but the plastic is cracked in two places. So I took the chrome door handles off my 98 and put them on the 93.

I had to reuse the headliner, so I went to Walmart and bought some fabric and spray on glue and redid my headliner.

Then I stripped her all the way down. The carpet was filthy. It's a good thing that I am changing to black carpet. :p

Now It's all clean. I have a lot of gray parts if anyone needs any.

Next week I plan to do the heater core and evaporator core, and start putting in the interior. So far, the the car is painted, LSC bumpers and side moldings.

You should put some gen2 mirrors on there too. Wire in the turn signals, and it would be pretty sweet.

What are you gonna use for door panels?

Just remember the panels are gonna be darker than all of the 98 midnight black pieces. Where are they cracked? Think it'd be possible to repair them? Post up some pics and we may be able to come up with some ideas...

As for the mirrors, you may as well do them while you're doing so much else. Much easier now than later on.

Today I painted the dash and the center console. I was going to take out the center from my black interior from my parts car, but once was enough, and I didn't feel like doing another removal. I had the tray dash already out, so I decided to paint it. I went to Autozone, and got some Rustoleum Vinyl paint. I used the flat black. I think it came out good. What do you think?

Greg, when I see that dash ripped out like that, I admire you lol. I just didn't even wanna tackle that job but on the other hand, I don't think my two tone look turned out too bad. I'm glad to see that the Gen II rear seats do work. If I can find a nice set, I might swap them over. I only want them because of the fold down arm rest. Just another way I could possibly vent some of my systems air pressure into the cabin.

It's not as bad as you would think on the second time around. It's like taking a puzzle apart. But now that I have it out, I am going to go ahead and do the heater core. Is it easy to access the nuts on the firewall that hold the AC Box?

I wish I could find blue material for my 93...stupid odd color...:-(
it's lookin nice Greg, keep up the good work
