have a friend who says they don't want to embaress me...what is your take..should I or shouldn't I...
 
370z will punnish you! Even if you were blown you would be hard pressed to outrun him.

0 to 60 In 4.7 sec. and the Quarter Mile in 13.3 sec. at 105.7 MPH

So you are gonna need to knock almost 3 seconds off your 0-60 and 2 - 2.5 seconds off your quarter to hang with him.
 
those cars are monsters, you better be pretty heavily modded and even then, youll probably get a good shot of his back side

Ok maybe my math is flawed here but the average mark runs high 14's and some run mid 14's... Since the majority run high 14's lets say 14.8 - 2.0 = 12.8. So you're saying he needs to run a 12.8 to beat the 370z's 13.3? That's assuming his friend can drive.

Personally I think the 370z will definitely beat you, but I don't think it will be a slaughtering. He'll get you in the end by a few cars. I say if you are a good driver it will be his win by 3 1/2 cars.

Even if he does win who cares, its all about the fun of it. Race him for fun and tell us the outcome. Don't be one of those guys that only races if you'll think you will win. What fun is that?
 
Slap a fuel pump and 150 shot on it while your friend isn't looking. Make sure to bet money on the race too. :D

But assuming you're stock, you will get your ass handed to you. I wouldn't call it a slaughtering either, but he has at least a full second in the 1/4 on you if he can drive for :q:q:q:q.

In the full 1/4 the advantage would be a hell of a lot more than 3 1/2 cars. It would not even be close stock vs. stock. The 370Z is running very close to stock 6 spd. LS1 times with traps as high as 107.
 
I'd do it anyway. Their will always be something faster. Win some, lose some. Just enjoy the thrill of the race.

Heck you might not get him off the line, but you might put up a good fight on a roll.
 
The only time it sucks to lose is to a slower car so race
him lose and enjoy watching a faster car
 
I got destroyed by my buddys SRT4 when my car was pretty much stock, but he had bunch of stuff done to it, it was still fun though

Dont try sounding like ya know when ya dont know. The MAJORITY of stock Marks will be well into the 15's, usually around 15.3 and some as high as 15.8 (some even slower then that) so when I say 2.0-2.5 seconds faster that puts him around 13.3 which will JUST hold with the Z car. Now if a Mark is running the quarter in low 13's then its not doing a sub 5 second 0-60 and the Z car will run away from launch and continue to pull away.

I want our cars to be faster but they just are not.
 
I raced a 370Z at the track when they first came out, I cut a light on him and pulled around 5-6 car lengths in the 1/4 mile...

I ran 14.651 at 97:p 370Z would still have whipped my ass by 10+ cars.

Not all Marks are created equall. :p

Some (like yours or Sapperfires) run 14's stock all day long but more of them run 15's :(
I hope for just high 13's with my blower.

I think low 13's at around 108-110 will be what it will run, but that is just an uneducated guess. We know that a 5.1 stroker will be in your future (plants seeds......).

My plan is after paint to get another Mark motor and slowly stock up parts. I want a forged stroker crank, 1000+ hp capeable rods and some forged dished pistons that can handle 1000 hp too. Then have the block worked and bump the boost to 22 psi and shoot for 700 rwhp. :)

Then that should destroy the trans and I want to see about getting an auto-stick like from Aston or something. :D

Its the super secret and rare MK V triple 1

Using rough numbers
Mark does 0-60 in 6.7 370 in 4.7
quarter MK 15.3 370 13.3

he's got you by 2 seconds 0-60 after that its equal. So from a roll you should take him.
