So in a few months (or sooner) I will be back in the financial shape I am used to and want another toy. So since work is super slow I went out to look at some possiable ideas and was left thuroughly dissapointed.

I drove a new SS Camaro cause I really dig their looks. The interior is very comfertable and well layed out. The ride is great and the power is awesome and the seats are super comfy. Downside is you feel dissconnected with the world. The pillars are way way too thick and the damn door windows are so high that you cant rest your arm on the door sill with the window down unless you like chronic shoulder pain. :(

Drove a new RT Challenger. Roomy and comfertable but it has the same issues as the Camaro. That and its too damn big and heavy for its power level. My Mark can easily out run it and go through a corner much better.

Then I drove an 01 E55 AMG. Nice features but I just was not comfertable in it and the switch layout is stupid. I could not get the seat to a comfertable position eaither and the seat bottom was just way too short. Bummer as it was in pristine condition and I could get it for $16K.

So then I went to try an 04 Vette targa top and I must have really gained weight cause it was so uncomfertable. :( Power was killer, trans shifted really nice and it handles like a Vette. But the seat is too narrow and it creaks and rattles like a mofo. Plus the damn seat belt was all the way out and was a bit too tight. I didnt think I gained much since I owned my 99 FRC Vette but I guess I have. :(

So back to the drawing board. I know I am comfertable in the 03/04 Cobras but I dont know that I really want another one. Maybe a used C6 as I see some for under $30K with low miles but IDK if they have more room or not in them. I am very very comfertable in the S197 Stang but wouldnt be happy with a mere GT and cant spend the money on a Cobra.

But what really gets me is how my 13 year old Mark is just so much nicer inside and how great its performance is compared to these cars that cost 10x as much as a clean used Mark. Maybe I should just find a super clean 98 Mark and slap a six speed and blower on it and call it a day. I could keep my 97 as my DD still.

I know what you mean. Latly I've been travling and driving rentals. The mark can spoil you. The biggest dissapointment was the 2010 mustang conv. It really sucked with almost no visiblity and the door was too high to rest my arm. WTF I guess 6 foot is short now?
The new prius is a whole different kind of car. That car needs to come with a training lesson.

Can't stand modern cars with small windows and high waistlines. Seems every modern car I go in has poor visibility and a claustrophobic feel.

i'd get a 98lsc, blow it, tune, 4:10's, intake and call it a day. and you'll still have money to blow.

One car I would look at is a used CTS-V. I wish Lincoln had something with similar power. On the other hand there is a 68,000 mile 98 close by for $3500.

No idea how much used Pontiac GTO's with the 6.0 go for, but I wouldn't mind replacing my Mark with one of those.

Look at some current owners comments about reliability and you might change your mind.

I drove a GTO a few months back and really liked it but thats more of a DD then a toy. I am not wanting to replace the Mark as a DD cause reall I cant. Its like the car was built for me. Every switch falls into my hand and I dont have to reach for anything. When my back is sore the seat makes it feel better. Its easy to get in/out and it has excellent power while still getting great mileage. I cant see spending 30+K to replace it with a lesser car.

I still want a toy though and it may end up being a C6 or an 05+ Stang with an Edelbroc blower.

I dont like soccer and have no kids.
Hate the way SUVs handle and dont want a 14 mpg rig.

Road and track did a comparision of the camaro, challenger and mustang. Overall the Mustang won hands down. Mainly because of the faults you mentioned on the other cars. Ergonomics.

I bought my 98 Mark with 28,000 miles on the clock and couldnt be happier with it. If a Cobra version of the Mark (SC, 6 sp) were included in that comparison, I have no doubt it would have left the others in the dust.

It looks like 94M5 is building such a Mark and Im definately going to follow his lead.

There's not many cars today that I like. And the ones I do like have cool exteriors but no interior comfort, I felt like I was siting in a plastic box. The powder was great, But thats short lived, when your sitting in traffic and your back and ass starts to ache. Of cause I do have a OLD body and that is part of the problem:) I want a car that is more than a giant PLASTIC MODEL.

Because its 40K and if I were to spend 40K I would buy a used C6 Z06 as there are a few around here for 41-42K.

Its not a DD, its a toy. A SHO is very nice but it is far from a play toy.

I just want an FD for a play car and to DD my Mark once I move away from this stupid state with winter...

Go with The SC,6SPD Gen 2 if you have the time, place and know how i would definitely do it. I posted this in the for sale section a week or so ago not sure if you saw it. It's not mine and i know if is far from you and cost alot(for a MK8) but i think it would be a great starting point for that type of project.
