LaserSVT 98 White Pearlescent Progress Thread

Make that :q:q:q:q happen!
No can! Car will be in the body shop till Thursday and then it gets new tires that day. Then on Friday it gets its new exhaust installed and then on Saturday I do the new seat back. Maybe Sunday I can get to it but still have to swap Sapperfires k-member this weekend too as well as change the power steering hose and oil pan gasket and oil cooler gasket and install shocks/struts and new brakes and....... jebesus, what the hell!?!?!?!

Man I wont even have fap time. :(

Anyway, I love new parts!

My $50 seat back. :D

And my new chrome license frames.

And the new Bolas! :wrench I am pissed cause every ad for them shows them polished and obviously they are not. :( I will prolly pick up some metal polish and attack them with my buffer. Oh well, they are stainless and Borlas which is something I always wanted for my Mark.

I hope you don't have any trouble getting those mufflers to fit. There's a reason I used offset/offset (same side) mufflers. There's not a lot of room to mount center/center mufflers and have the tips come out in the middle of the cutouts. You may have to tilt them a bit or they might interfere with the unibody rails or the tow hooks. That will make them hang lower then they probably should though.

And I hope that your Borla's don't end up looking like mine did after a couple of years (these are pics of the exhaust I built for my SC).

agreed heres the thundermark with center vs offset mufflers, the first set was what he sent it to the shop with. as soon as he picked it up he was unhappy with the "grand theft auto look" and we knew we had to do something hence the new mufflers turned sideways tucking them up into the sides of the bumpercover, both pics are the same pipes just different mufflers. i know its not a markviii but it thinks it is, just wanna show how different muffler set ups change everything

Well if it looks like crap then I will do something else but these Borla cans seem pretty small... much smaller then the Flowmasters on the car so I have hope.

I bought the KB 2.2L blower today too. :D

Nice! Another side-effect of tucking the mufflers up towards the trunk is that it will make your amp get hotter faster, especially in the summer. I had some blowmasters turned up like that.

Its a JL slash series which are pretty much bullet proof and its right behind the rear seat so thats not a concern. Still not worried about the muffler fitment. Genos mufflers have been installed on many many Marks and they are center in and suedo center out.

Woot woot!
It looks like April 17th the car will have the blower, trans cooler and j-mod done. Gearheads in Arlington is going to send me a free base tune to get her home from Austin and then on Monday the 19th they will do a chasis dyno and tune to make it perfect. :wrench
So by the middle of next month I will have some dyno numbers and one sweet running Mark. :D

 I really cant afford all this and cant believe I am doing it now. I just figured it all out and am eating my last $7 lunch right now. I will have to brown bag it or do $1 specials for the next two months. I ate up my safety cushion. :( I am just a sucker for a good deal! I meen the KB 2.1L kit is $3800 + shipping and this kit is the 2.2L kit AND has the bypass valve and was half the cost.

Buying it wouldnt have broken me like it did but just the day before I spent $700 at SCP for braces and bars because I figured I was pretty much done modding. Then at 2am I had a wild hair up my ass and just HAD to order the 1350 watt power plant/ESC upgrade for my P-51D Mustang so it can do 100+ MPH..... Dont have ANY knowledge of flying a super fast RC plane and will prolly crash it doing a nose dive at 130mph and blow $300!

But wait, it gets better! I am so OCD. I now need a boost gauge and wideband gauge. A normal person whos already spent too much money would just get a $100 AEM wideband and an Autometer $40 boost gauge right? Nope. Captain dumb azz *smiles and waves* just HAS to have the PLX gauges again. I had them in my Cobra and they are the coolest gauge known to man so I need them again. So there goes another $500.
See I dont want gauges running down my A-pillar and the PLX is a 52mm round gauge face with an LCD screen. They are very thin so I can do something different for the mounting. Plus one screen can show up to 32 sensors. :wrench

If you are not familiar with the PLX then here they are in my Cobra.

:iconcur: If I was going for big power numbers then I would have done a Cobra plenum and centri but since I only want 400ish and would MUCH prefer the low end torque of a PD blower.

Ive had TT setups, big single turbos, Vortech Stang and a Powerdine LS1. Wasnt untill I had my Cobra that I was really happy. The power right off idle just blew me away and how that small 281 felt like a big block with its torque.

I am so excited! Wish it was here already!

Picked her up from the body shop. Gotta say the Maaco we have here is quite excellent. The finnish and color is 20x better then the last shop. I am going to have them paint the whole car this summer. :)

Also dropped all my exhaust stuff off at the muffler shop so that they can do the install tomorrow. :wrench

Laser, I don't get on here as much as I used too, but had to say, the car looks great. I can appreciate the enthusiasm you have for your car. Keep it up! As you know, there are a lot of awesome people on this board that are always more than happy to help solve any dilemmas you might run into. I've done all the work on my car. Everything from paint to Door panel switch Gen1 to Gen2. Just let me know If there is anything I can help out with. Good luck on the build!!
