So I found this place cruising older threads on here that sells the 13" Cobra brake calipers with specific Mark/Bird rotors, brackets and everything needed to slap them in. They are $600 for the solid rotors and $700 with the slotted/drilled rotors which is what I would prefer. With shipping thats $758 and if I cant find a better deal then by mid Feb. I will buy them in silver with the black Cobra lettering. They have a plain black one but I thinkthe silver looks classy.

And please dont talk about how much cheaper it would be with a hub swap, yada yada yada. I have the wheels I always wanted and am keeping them since they were the first set made. :D

If it's the front only, thats fairly reasonable. If its front and rear I'd say its a decent deal...

The rears sound expensive :( All you need to change on the rear is rotors and make/get brackets/rings.

Check out www.buyfordracing.com. I just bought the 2004 Cobra front brake calipers for $229. They're the 10th anniversary edition ones that are red. I just got them in yesterday and they look awesome. It may be cheaper for you to buy those and then get some Mustang rotors redrilled to the Mark VIII pattern. Give it a look-see. Unless, of course, you don't like the red ones.

ok, try that. I accidentally typed in the wrong thing. When you go to the website, it's right on the first page.

I'd agree with it being cheaper to buy parts seperately which you don't want to hear ;)
I paid about $1k for new parts on absolutely everything in the end front and rear (rotors, front calipers, R4S pads F+R, rear brackets and rings from fast Ed, stainless lines.) What killed me as I got good prices on the parts, was shipping and taxes :( I'm sure someone on the other side of the border (you) could knock a couple hunderd off that fairly easy, as most places ship for free within the USA it seems...

is that the super coupe kit?
No, the SCP kit is a few hundred more. This is from http://discbrakesrus.com/make/ford/thunderbird.htm

Dont I also need some brackets to mount the calipers? I assume the lines bolt right up since the kit only comes with banjo bolts.

Haven't done it yet, but everything I've read says that the front calipers bolt right on. You only need the bracket for the rears if you're upsizing to the 11.65" cobra rear rotors.

I dont mind about piecing it together but I have two problems. One is I have asked in a previous thread if there was brackets that were needed and told yes but nobody could say where to just get them. The other problem is I have spoke with 4 brake places and none was willing/able to redrill the rotors.
My drill press is warn to hell and I dont trust myself to have it centered right.

Try a machine shop and take an old Mark VIII/t-bird rotor with you so they can get the exact measurements from that.

The brackets that t-bird kit comes with are just the caliper brackets....what the caliper itself bolts to. Any cobra brake caliper you buy new is gonna come with that.

Then go with a kit from one of those places :) Yes, you'll pay a bit more, but that's the luxury of getting all at once and from the same place, ready to go.

Fronts do bolt right on. You may have to notch the one banjo fitting if your using the stock lines, but if your using SS aftermarket ones, it's fine.
The only brackets you'll need are for the rear stock calipers to space them out for the bigger rotors.
Rings for the rear 'stang rotors are a good idea too as the hub is slightly larger on them.
fast Ed is the one to get the brackets/rings from.
Search for DLF's post/site on the swap as he's the king of this subject on how to install them and what's needed :D

OK, now you guys got me curious. It seems I can get the Bullit calipers (same as Cobra), rotors and can repaint the calipers all for $300!
I hope thats a bolt up, I will do a larger search tomorrow to see about getting the rotors redrilled somewhere. If I canget them drilled id be an idiot to spend over double that. Hell, I could buy an extra set of rotors in case they screw up.

Then it sounds like the extra $60 for braided lines would be a wise purchase too. They have the Cobra lines for $59 at the buy ford racing place

You guys rock!!

OK, thats what I am gonna do next month then. Get the Bullit calipers, braided lines and some drilled/slotted rotors. I will find a machine shop somewhere around that will be willing to do the job.
I am going to paint the calipers black then lay out my stickers and then paint them silver so when I peel the stickers off the wording or badge will be black. Should look kewl. :D

Yes, they are my main concern. If I slowly roll on the throttle while fully on the brakes the car will roll without spinning the rears. The fronts are not sliding, they just are not clamped. Down the road I will do the rears.

So I finnaly found a place that will redrill the rotors but not sure on cost. He said its $65 per hour and it seems to me an hour would be all thats needed to drill 10 holes. Every place else said they wont do automotive stuff and no auto shop would do them eaither.
