K&N Intake Deal

The latest, latest......

I apologize that it took so long for your message to get to me. I just saw the amazing chain of Emails this morning. So, if you are still interested and able to get the vehicle to us please let me know, and I will schedule you in at your earliest convenience. I read through the Emails and saw that your work schedule is erratic, so we will work around it as much as we can. If we need the vehicle longer than a couple of hours we will get you a free rental car to use while we have your vehicle. I will not know exactly how long we will need it for until I talk to the shop supervisor, but I want to make sure we can get the car before I ask him about time. Please contact me directly either by phone or Email, thanks.

Doesn't effect me really, but that's awesome for those of you that it does

Why not? You're not interested? This will be available for all gen 2 LSes. Were it not for the T-Bird we wouldn't have this option at all!

Wait... I thought this was for emissions testing or something. Rereading whole thread...

Edit: I already have a K&N and there isnt any emissions testing in my state. Thats what you are contacting Customer Service about right?

Yep. This way we will have a CARB certification number and will be able to have the intake pass any state's emissions visual test.

Gotchya, well like I said it doesn't effect me overly, but I'm glad for the people that need to pass those tests

Sorry to post this here...

but I a question.

Does anyone else's cone filter make contact with the car at the point indicated below? Mine touches, or maybe has 1/16" separation. is it a problem? or should i try to find a way to space them?

I just checked mine. In the front there is plenty of space but there's minimal towards the rear like 1/16" like you said. I don't think that's a problem. I don't see any wear marks where the filter could be hitting during operation so I wouldn't worry about it.

You can always try and push the filter closer to the TB on the tube.

BTW, my appointment at K&N is the 18th.

OK boys and girls. I just got back from K&N World Headquarters. They "approved" the install on the '03-'06 LS of the T-Bird intake. Their web site should show the LS on the application page in the next day or so with CARB approval sooner or later. They are totally confident that the CARB will certify the LS as their "readings" are the same.

And to top it all off I got an intake for my wife's LS!!!!!!!!!

Cool.

I just wish the intake didn't make that high pitched noise when the throttle opens.

Not sure if it can be found cheaper or not but when I got mine a few months ago I got it off ebay for like $280

The typhoon is more expensive than the black one I just got but that's personal preference I suppose. If I planned to dress the engine up then maybe the typhoon makes sense, but I am not, so the extra coin for the polished just seems like a waste.

The black one that I just got is awesome, the sound is so much more than I expected. And at $230 It's a steal.

Excuse my ignorance, but do they both have the same performance/sound?

Product Style: 57 Series FIPK
Estimated Horsepower Gain: 15.75 HP @ 6000 RPM

Product Style: 69 Series Typhoon Kits
Estimated Horsepower Gain: 7.98 HP @ 5379 RPM

I noticed that too, but I couldn't imagine the Typhoon having lower performance. It doesn't make sense to me.

Thank you for contacting K&N and inquiring about our products. Yes the 57- does make more HP and is cheaper because we can mold the tube however we want to direct air into the engine where the 69- metal tube we can only bend so many ways. Please let me know if you have any other questions?
