Is This Worth Getting

I found mine on ebay for $5, but shipping cost $50. In the pics that thing looks rusty as hell. Mine was the older(weaker) style, but with an auto I'm not gonna break it anytime soon. Search ebay for a while and you will find a good one.

Just depends on what you are looking for. You can find trac-locks in thunderbirds all the time at pull-a-parts and they usually haven't been abused I think my local yard get 30 bucks for em. A new 3:73 gear set is 150 bucks. Usually when a gear comes out of a mustang you can pretty much bet it has had some abuse.

Dude that is a RIP OFF! Those freaking things are BEAT!

Expect to pay $50-$80 for a decent used trac-loc. As for gears most people want WAY to much for them used. I usually see them go for $80-$100. I'd rather buy them brand new for $139.99 with free shipping from buyfordracing.com

I paid $80 for my T-Lok brand new and $100 for my 4.10's. That stuff would need cleaning and more than likely new clutches. There are a ton of T-Lok's and gears on Ebay that look much better than that.

I have 4.10s some guys have 4.30s and I think a few people have 4.56s, For a daily driver that doesnt see much track time i think the 3.73 is probably the best.

my car is in no way a daily driver. it may go 2 - 4 hundred miles a year if that. its going to be my antique show car someday! :D
my plans for it is a vortec super charger, cobra intake, manifolds, and an exhaust system. maybe some other minor things, what gears would you guys suggest for that?

also, will gears mess with the cars computer or traction control system in any way?

No, gears wont mess with it. I have 3.73s and didn't even adjust for it in the tune as I like my shift pattern. I put in a purple gear for the VSS since the VSS on our cars controls the air ride drop speed and where the speed limiter kicks in (if stock tune). The speedo will not change with gears cause our cars use the ABS wheel speed sensors for that.
Vortech looks nice when polished and a polished Cobra plenum. Really sets off the engine bay. If you wanna stay B headed then at least the Centri can be intercooled.

For gear ratio I would say 3.73 with the centri. I wish I had 3.55s as they would work better with my blower since its a PD style.
Guys on here will scream 4.10s but really with a blower thats just useless. Ask the blown guys on here, tall gear is NOT needed.
You will definatly want a Trac Lok as well to harness the power. You can find used Mustang ones for around $50 and then rebuild them with 4 clutches per side and they will help it grab better.
Thats what I have and what I love about it is its dead silent, transparent in the turns and does a perfect job putting down the power out of the hole.

GMAN, I wouldnt touch that set. The gears are now useless in it. The T-Loc can be media blasted and then rebuilt but why bother when you can have a nice one that never had rust on it for under $100.
Mine was $60 shipped and was JUST rebuilt with 4 clutches. Got it off teh Corral. My gears were $50 shipped.

It's been awhile, but the last time i looked you could buy motive gears for about $100 and a trac lok from summit for $214 all brand new. I wouldn't touch that set for free. It will be cheaper to buy something else.

what do you mean by PD style, and centri???

positive displacement blower vs centrifical blower. A pd blower has much more torque so you don't need gears a centri gives you top end so you need gearing to get you out of the hole.
