So I should just start a progress thread Ive been posting on this problem so many times. Here is the story... I have put in the Mark a new t-stat, NEW water pump (not rebuild), new radiator, new fan motor, new over flow cap and even a new temp sending unit. With all of that I can sit in a parking lot where the car is telling me its 118 outside and the temp gauge sits just above the "A" but when I drive on the freeway at about 70 mph and the car tells me its only 101 outside and the gauge hangs out around "O". Any ideas before I drive my Mark off a cliff?

Ive burped it the only way I know how... Is there a recommended method for the Mark? And the fan is doing great it blows at both speeds.

You must use the inlet on the crossover tube to fill it full, than close it and add some to the overfill tank to meet the level - nothing else. Also, all air is burped by itself when thermostat opens (at that moment breathly make WOT to do it fast).
Does both of your "radiators" (one radiator and one condenser really) clean and cheap? What was the climat control settings in both situations?

OMFG is the search that fuggin hard?

You look up over heating and someone will always say "Did ya burp it the right way?" Followed by "Whats the right way?" followed by "Take the crossover tube cap off yada yada yada yada"
Burping of a Marks cooling system has only been covered eleven billionty times!

And after you burp it, do it a few times just to be sure, make sure the t-stat isn't leaking. Sometimes it's hard to get the gasket to properly seal the housing.

Cool... Thanks everyone for the help... I will try it in the morning once its cooled off.

Ok man check this out...try the burp procedure again,correctly...and then come back and read my post again

notice that your "A" and "O" temperature readings are still in the NORMAL range!!!!! It's Fuggin August FFS, and if you're using the AC it will make the motor work harder...which makes it a tad hotter...

Now I must ask...are you using actual COOLANT or just WATER??? Water boils at a much lower temp than coolant...when water boils, it creates....bubbles...which are made of AIR..
Now go pop your hood and fix your car

I also know my cars reading on the outside temp alot of times is way off, Depends I think on were is setting in the sun or in the shade

The "outside temp" sensor is in the front bumper, yes shade changes the temp, or you can submerge the vehicle in a lake and recheck the temp there

Proper cooling system burping/refilling procedure

There is a sticker on the drivers side fender under the hood that will explain the burping procedure. do not deviate from that procedure 1 iota and you will be fine. also what is your mixture for water/coolant? 50/50? 70/30?..........it is after all summer, and motors will run hotter than usual.
Using Max Air rather and Auto, will be less taxing on your motor. set temp to 65 rather than 60. try these things, and i hope it helps you.

I followed the sticker the first time with no results. Im running a 50/50. It has worked fine in other cars Ive had in the summer. I also leave my A/C at 72. It just bugs the chit out of me this whole cooling system.

I understand that NORMAL is fine. It is also not NORMAL for a car to run higher then halfway. Halfway is 210 degrees on most cars. Ive run bigger engines with more horsepower and a 160 degree t-stat also plus A/C and they have run cooler in the AZ summers(or just ran at the halfway mark). I just want halfway. I also know that you need to run coolant with water to raise the boiling point of water. You would have to be crazy to just run straight water in AZ during the summer. So I run a 50/50 mix. I just want to have it stay at half that's all I'm asking.

50/50 is a good mix for when it gets below zero. for arizona heat, you need to change your mix. too much or too little antifreeze or coolant isnt good. try some water wetter too might help.

I dont know maybe Marks are different. It has work well in the past. They need to sell so 70/30 premix. :shifty: I did the water wetter yesterday thinking that would help but nothing.

Ive noticed that mine is off by about 3-5 degrees when Im driving by one of those time temp signs.

If I don't figure this cooling system out I will be submerging my car in a lake! It might be the only time it runs cool!

I love you folks that buy pre-mixed coolant...paying extra for water is awesome...learn to measure

have you put a Coolant Pressure Tester on the system yet to check for leaks?
Have you reburped
have you thought about not living in the desert

I can mix on my own... but when the premix is the same price as the regular I see it as a savings. Pressure test not a bad idea. I wont re-burp until tomorrow morning. And yes I think about not living in the desert every time summer comes around.

Holy crap...read what you just said and think about it for a few..I'll recap

if Pre-Mix (half water / half coolant) is the SAME price as regular...you see it as saving...
Regular being NOT mixed...then if it's the SAME price as the watered down one, you're paying double for coolant, RoFL

Not when you have to buy water... AZ water I would not put in the dogs bowl

Didn't think you'd have a filtration problem...we don't really have that here...ok buy water...-shrug-
