If you had a nickel... (Pics)

I say just let them total it, and put forth a few grand yourself and get into an 06.

i dont some late nite "window shopping" saw what looked to be 05 LS. White (gorgeous) except for the Tan interior (puke) still got some more looking to do Kinda excited / stressed to see what i can come up with

Ya know i lived there for 26 years and kept asking the same question....lol. I used to live in pikeville, up until about 3 months ago. Pikeville is the eastern most part of Kentucky that you can go without going to WV. I really hate to say that...because it sounds horrible. I currently still live in KY, however i live more towards the middle in a place call Lexington (bout an hour from Louisville) if that helps any. :)

If I had a nickel for every bad driver that hit me (female or not) I would already have an LS8 and a mile long list of mods, lol

Its Official....Totalled. GFDI
they called me and are currently attempting to offer me $5700 for it...only problem is...thats what i owe on it. Therefore...they are gonna have to come up with something other than that.

Anyone been in this situation before with the gekko? How did you handle it to get moar monay???

You wont get more because that is the book value of the car....i just looked it up on kelly blue book and thats what they should be offering you.

Youve gotta remember that its 10 years old....if it were a newer model you would be getting upwards of 10K.

Im not trying to "benefit" from my wifes stupidity. Im just trying to have something to go forward as a "down payment" towards whatever i am able to find. I do have a question though...is there anywhere on the car itself that tells that is does in fact have the sport package. I know that the car has it...but the insurance people wanna see something that says it specifically. I know about the SST shifter / upgraded Alpine Stereo / Leather wrapped steering wheel / leather wrapped shift knob / Deleted chrome trim on the bumpers / etc , but is there anywhere on the car / title that would say is does in fact have it specifically ???

Any help would be AMAZING

Do you still have the paperwork of when you bought the car??

have ford run your vin# I believe.

Alax is correct, the VIN number should tell them that. I've had the Gekko for quite awhile now, 8 or 9 years at least, and they have always been pretty good about things. The ex totalled our Focus when we were still together and they offered us more than the car booked for, only about $500 more if I remember correctly. If you did anything to the car recently, bring it up to them. That's what we did and it got us a few bucks more.

So i contacted the Ford and im guessing that "Habib" didn't know what he was doing? Just to make sure that i have the correct number...what is the number that you guys have called to have your VIN ran? Or do you just go to a dealership?

The vehicle ID number for your car that's on your insurance card or the number that on the little plaque on the driver side of windshield.

Ive got the VIN...and i have called a Ford dealer...but all they give me is Engine Specs / Tires Size / Suspension / etc. Was asking what number do you guys call to speak to a COMPETENT FORD DEALER. :)

Do a search for similar cars in your area. I used Autotrader online to get many many listings for my Impala SS that was totalled. The insurance went by Blue book which was several thousand less than it would cost to replace the SS. When I showed the insurance the market price of cars in my area they raised my payment several thousand. I think they offer something like $8K and I got $13K. The SS was a special car(value had actually increased over the years) so the replacement cost was fairly high. Don't know how well the LS will do but Good Luck.

PS You might also look into buying back the car from the insurance. Usually it is real cheap. Then you can fix the car yourself, If it is worth it. One gotcha is that it will have a salvage title so resale in the future will be a lot less, So don't spend too much money to resurrect the car.

Same here, rear-ended by someone during a traffic light this summer and got the bumper replaced and they did something to the trunk otherwise the trunk won't close (not the locker problem). And got the radar replaced. total almost 3K. Man, I think you are looking for something close to 4K.
At least the kid and wf is safe.

I got hit and only my rear bumper was damage. The shop gave the insurance about a 2000 dollar bill. I know they jack up the price but I say you're looking at more than 1500, 3000+ is more like it.

Email max or call him. I needed to color match my mom's expedition and I gave him the vin number to see what paint code it was since the sticker on the door was gone. He emailed me a 2 page pdf with everything the truck came with, like extra options and standards features, which included the paint code. He was very helpful, max is the man!

Whelp, dont think its gonna matter anymore, all they are gonna offer me is 5800 and some change. Its ok i guess but seeing as how payoff is 5700, now im excited to walk on a car lot with a hundred dollar bill look some salesman in the eye and say "what can i get for this?"

No No...dont get it twisted. Totally aware that its just a car, would not want it instead of the son / wife. Would LOVE to get another LS, however, i have drove past this dealership with an 08 Maxima with only 20K miles. Pretty sure thats what Im gonna go with to be honest.

maximas are nice.

I dunno but look around you may just find an 06. But if not then a maxima would be a good choice. Theyre more roomy than the ls and the 3.5 is no joke.

my sister did the same thing (different car) my parents told her not to drive. but no, she tried to in 6 inches of snow in a little ford escort.... and totaled it.

yeah, the 3.5 has some serious "Move your a$$" to it. was def impressed from what i had expected. Its got the cloth interior instead of the leather, which, with a kid, i would prefer. Thought cleanup would be a bit harder...the car seat wont tear the cloth as bad as it would the leather. Thinking about going back to see if they will let me take it home for the weekend or something like that to TEST it. :) Will let you know what i come up with.
