Well guys I just bought this 1997 junk Gen II w/152,000 miles from Rich.
http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=70515
It is equipped with the following extras:
*knock in the engine
*fuel leak from hell
*oil leak
*horrific paint
*grille is no longer chrome
*Odometer doesn't work
*neon ballast doesn't work
*exhaust sounds beautiful but the whole thing's been shifted to the right
*Someone tapped the coolant line & placed a backyard hose faucet on top!
Thanks to Jamie, those are the only issues, otherwise there would be a few more but....
Why I grabbed it from Rich?
I love it this way. The primary function of this car will be as a theft deterrent at my 85 year old grandmother's house. My grandfather passed away in 2008 & 6 months later we sold his Buick then my 93 was parked there from Oct 2009 - March 2010 during my transmission failure but afterward there has been no car parked outside her house. It looks like no one lives there so this car is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Every other day I will start the car, move it a bit just so it looks like someone used the car at some point in the last 24 hours & that's it. I visit her 3-4 times p/week anyway so now I will have yet another Mark VIII even when I'm not home & seriously? It's a clean car... It's got it's perks but it's very clean. The interior is not bad at all & there's no visual rust anywhere... well, except that ugly roof, lol.
My plans for the car?
Quite simple, scrape off all the putty from the gas tank where it's leaking (being careful I don't set off a spark, properly (spray) paint the trims to match the car, spray paint the UGLY roof to match the car, probably swap the oil for 4 quarts of 50 weight + 2 quarts of Lucas so that annoying noise goes away
& that's it! Who knows, maybe a year down the line I decide to resurrect the Gen II!
