Alright, so I'm doing the hub swap. I'm getting the rear hubs from Ed on the t-bird forums and they don't come with the bearings. Does anyone know if I can re-use my current bearings? They're less than 6 months old and probably have less than 1000 miles on them. I'm doing the cobra brakes at the same time, so the price tag is quickly adding up and if I can get away with not spending the $80 needed for new bearings, then I'd rather not.

I had already read that but it seems I must have completely missed that sentence. Anyway, will the bearings still be usable after getting pressed out? I imagine that they would be, but I just want to make sure.
 
Keep us posted how it goes. Im wanting to do the hub swap also, im tired of the lack of nice looking wheels for the Mark 8's.
 
I definitely will. I've wanted to do this for a very long time. Hopefully, I'll remember to take pictures of everything as I'm doing it. I've got a bad habit of forgetting to do that. This started out as me just buying some of Brad's wheels in the mark viii bolt pattern, then it turned into this big project. I'm doing the hub swap, cobra (10th anniversary--red) front brakes with Ed's relocation brackets on the rear, and some staggered black chrome 18 x 9/10 FR500 wheels with some 285's on the back and 255's on the front. I can't wait. I finally started ordering everything today. Would be cool to have everything installed before the new year, but I'm not counting on it, especially with holiday shipping and Christmas vacation out of state for a few days.
 
I'm currently online using my iPod touch, so web browsing isn't the easiest thing in the world to do right now. However, you can do a search for a member on here by the name of staffamerica74 (I think), he has the staggered chrome ones. The 2005+ offset mustang wheels are just about perfect for hub-swapped Marks.

That would depend upon the skill of the person using the press and the level of corrosion. If you're careful, and the current hubs are not too hard to remove, then the hubs can be removed without damaging the bearings.
 
I would recommend against re-using wheel bearings in the rear... The mark bearings are slightly difficult to press the hub out without the outer race staying on the hub without proper tools and know how.

Hey driller, what wheels are those centercaps for? I was wanting to try and find something like that for mine, but mine will be black chrome, so that changes things a little bit. Also, did you have to cut your half-shafts down some to get the centercaps to fit?

I found them on centercaps.net

I bought one for a test fit and then bought a set after I tried them. I think they are from an LS?

I did not have any issue with the halfshaft preventing the centercap to fit.
 
Hmm...I just replaced both of mine with new FLM pieces also. Hopefully, I won't have that issue either.
