i have been reading in other posts people saying a cheap mod you can do is take the mufflers off. how does it sound with them off and are they clamped on or welded?

i like loud so if that makes my car loud then thats good, there are no emission laws here in yuma az so im gonna eventually do all of it and cut the cats off

I cut off the cat's first on my car (the 2nd set not the first) and put a Y-pipe in place, and it was still quiet, so I cut off my mufflers and put on some tips and it was actually pretty loud... but I wanted louder so I hollowed out the first set of cats... then it was stupid loud... But I loved it... except for the rediculous drone and cackle. I'll be doing the dual X pipes and magnaflows as soon as my car is back on the road...

i cut off the mufflers on my 94 before i had the exhaust done. It sounded alright. it wasnt very loud.

My son wanted a louder exhaust on hi 93 so we had the rear mufflers cut off and pipes bent with turndowns welded on. Sounds quiet at idle but does drone at certain speeds when accelerating. It's ok for him but for me it drones too much but liveable. Will find out how loud the following weekend as we'll be up in KC at the gettogether.

i'll see if i can get a video of my 93 tomorrow. i have no mufflers on it, but i also have a whole true dual exhaust from a 98 lsc on my 93 so it sounds throatier than a base model exhaust with no mufflers. it actually sounds pretty dam good!

I have gutted cats, Magnflow dual in/out X in place of the third cat, and magnaflow dual cat back. It is too quiet for me. My Mustang was MUCH louder with just a catback and catted X.

On my grey 93, I replaced the 3rd cat with a MF dual in/out cat, 2 1/4 pipe, no resonator and no mufs. Sounded like a pick up. The drone at 2,700-3,000 rpm sucked. My son has the car now and he loves it. Just a matter of opinon. I'm an old guy and want a more throaty sound.

That sounds like crap... I think my '93 sounded sooo much better... I wish it ran... I'd take a clip of it.

Jamie that's pretty much my set up. Below is a pic of hte exhaust I took off of a 97 LSC. I've been wanting to get rid of my Flowmasters since they have completely rotted inside & they sound like a can full of pennies. Not only that but the humidity accumulated inside them is horrific. Every time I start the car cold the rusty water that comes out is staining my driveway. I was thinking of omitting the mufflers but I wasn't sure if I'd be loosing too much hp due to loss of back pressure. I don't think it sounds amazing w/o the mufflers but it would definitely sound better.

Mk without mufflers. YuKe. I'd rather but some mod to the motor first to give it more sound when u get the xhuast. But an H pipe might help with sound

cut the 3rd cat

I cut out the resonator and it sounded pretty good. Not a bad sound expected it to be louder. Lost some back pressure as a result....just wanted it a little louder until Geno gets the new order of mufflers in. The car is new to me so of course I had to change something the first few days I had it.
