I was walking by the mark the other day and I noticed a gap in the front of the hood about 1/8 of an inch it almost seems like it dosent close all the way
 
are you sure its the hood thats the problem and not the chrome strip above the headlights?

If thats not the problem loosen the bolts on the latch and move the whole assembly down.

But what Gen are we talking about? A Gen 1 can have a gap, but its not normal. When i got my Mark it had no gap, then after a front end collision and repair it had one - which was corrected after complaining. It was then sealed up again after a different shop worked on it. It seems like its really hard to make fit right if there has been any front panel work.

Gently, and I mean GENTLY do this procedure...

Wrap a peice of wood/book/small child in a soft towel and put it under the passenger side of the hood
Push down GENTLY on the driver side to "tweak" the hood
Remove object, close and examine...

Repeat that as many times as it takes to level out the hood... also check the rubber stopper and adjust them to make the hood level, and the latch might also be suspect...

I found that a kitty or small dog worked best. there cry isnt as annoying and they die so much quicker.

KK, thanks for the idea! Mine is crooked exactly the same and I have adjusted the stops as much as I can.

Yours looks like a simple stopper problem on the drivers side that needs to be screwed down. Gen 1's have a gap in the center. All of them do unless the hood has been reshaped on the front edge. Gen 2 should have no gap that I know of. Let Jamie make your headlights look new again. You have the perfect candidate pair.

I had that problem with one of my cars. What I did was,:shifty: I only approach my car from the rear, So i don't see the gap.:shifty:
But if that's not for you, I'd adjust the rubber stops.

You're wrong. Thats my old car, and it was only in one minor accident, and was rear ended. Rob, try that thing with the block of wood, it worked on my '49 Club coupe when I did all the body work and painted it.
