Help with Eibach & tires

Those look great....

I'm basically doing the same thing soon.

My plan is for 245/40 Hankook V12's

Careful if you lower with Hankooks, I chewed through some being lowered ~2inches. Maybe go for a higher tread wear rated tire.

Do it yourself it's freeeeeee and not that difficult

You have a point. I guess I just like the satisfaction of doing it myself.

You do need an alignment after. You may or may not need the camber kit for the front.

The shop down the street did my alignment and he didn't need to install the kit.

I enjoy the satisfaction as well.. some things I'm just not totally comfortable doing yet as I don't have much experience. Suspension and brake work is in that catagory. Besides that fact I don't have a ton of tools or a decent place to work on it.

The precision frame and alignment shop wants $250 to install and $100 alignment. Guess I'm just wondering if that is reasonable compared to other places.

That is understandable. If I haven't had the help I've had from others I probably wouldn't have done it myself either.

RE: $250 to install, holy crap, they seen you coming huh ?

yup!

you could buy the tools for that price. (I think, without checking)

~ that'll take your teeth out in a hurry!

Sounds normal. That's ~$62 per shock, which isn't half bad. For that money I have stopped doing shock replacement. It's worth it not to have that rear shock over my head trying to get it positioned right and having someone (usually my wife) start one of the nuts. That shock/spring assembly gets pretty heavy after a while....

Compressing my LS springs was one of the scariest car scenarios I have done myself.

Well placing and removing jackstands is also very scary, but that is way more common!

I've used spring compressors multiple times with success. They're not bad at all if you take your time, and the new design has a pin on the top to keep them from slipping off as easily. I like the hands on approach and knowing I did it myself anyways.

Damn ... another delivery to the house this morning.

Can't do it today, I go under the knife this afternoon, will be out of commision for a couple of days.

(if I don't make it, tell my wife to sell the LS and all the stock piled parts in the basement and for her to buy her Fn Audi)

Totally ruined the visual I had in my mind of you running with ur tires/rims in hand like that boy with the ticket. Sorry to hear about the surgery... Same day procedure? Minor surgery hopefully?

They'll keep me overnight, laser tag on my internals.

So you went with V12s eh?

Compound is too soft for lowered IMO. Unless you get the rubber rotated OFTEN (unmount then re mount) - they won't last long in terms of tire life.

What do you consider not long?
