Headlights

Reasons for sucking:

1. Small halogen housings.

2. Plastic lenses turn yellow.

3. The chrome paint inside the housings burns off.

Cheap solution:

Polish up the lenses, rechrome the insides with chrome tape and fit a cheap HID kit.

All that and its a gen 1... get a gen II lol... :) I guess I am bias

i agree with you both times, but i also must say that many people seeing a 93 in really good shape even think they are new cars,

my dads 93 is pristine and over the last 5-6 years he has had more than 12 people ask him if it was new.the last person to ask him was a cts owner last december

it makes him laugh everytime, a 16 year old car confusing less knowledgeable folk,,

its got a style that doesnt completely relate to a specific ere,i guess thats what might be called timeless style.

LOL, I've had that happen a few times. The looks on their faces when I tell them it's a '93, priceless. :D

You can still get new headlamp housings BTW.
 
send me your housings i'll redo them to new condition and send them back with a plug and play installed hid kit for $200

Not a bad deal... I just might be doing that... Got wait to get paid again to do it. Living on a budget sucks!!!

I have searched "head lamp" here. Spent about 2 hours or so reading several threads... mostly early ones. Some questions I have and, opinions if you care to post, I would be delighted to know your experience.

1) Is aquabrits "Cheap solution". Still acceptable. If I go this route then do mechanically separate the lense from the housing or can I heat to 400F in an oven and pull a part?

2) Do I remove the metal black deflector from the inside of the housing once apart?

3)What adhesive would be best for putting the lens and housing back together?

I have a pair of headlamp assemblies I pulled off a 95 M8 which are in much better condition than those on my 93.

Never mind!

Never mind...I see the top thread for Aquabrit's headlamp refurb...oops. Well I did something today! :)
 
If you want to pull the lenses off the housing, 400* for about 15-20 minutes should soften the adhesive enough to pull them apart. You'll wanna wear gloves

I doubt you'd get the deflector out without damaging it.

You could always do the ever so popular hunt for LSC housing's :) good luck, and they'll be expensive when you find some. Unless you're super lucky at JY shopping
 
I cut my lenses off and re-chromed with tape, removed defuser and left out, glued back together and sealed with silicone. They are nice and bright but I still have to polish them for Sapp! Sounds like a summer job.
 
I'll give it a try. Lexan at 400 F ...this should be interesting. I am envisioning the Salvadore Dali painting in which the clock is melting. I can just hear my wife now...what is that stinky smell? I'll just tell her it is one of my vegan dishes! ;)
