what a chooch!! He doesnt think he'll buy another ford because of a fricken bulb...... cant help but laugh at him tho
 
Good for him. I wish every owner made more noise about this; it might have gotten us a better solution from Ford.
 
lol dudes rollin around with this shirt off pissed bout his light...i wish i had a youtube account i'd tell him to come over here..but if he has enough knowledge to own a mark viii, record himself, and post it on youtube...im surprised he doesnt already know his options. It comes right up in google search of mark viii hid. :rolleyes:

He can buy a conversion kit, sell your one good bulb and it basically pays for itself...thats the best solution so far since the OEM hid uses different powersupplies then all the new model vehicles. Ford gave us a solution (halogen) that is too expensive in all seriousness they should have made a TSB or recall, something, and use the idea mafioso had. I've got his pieces in mine and the gf's car and couldnt be happier with the results.

i love my car, tows great,good mpg, very comfortable,fun, ........wont buy another because i need headlights.

I can see his point on the headlights. Still kind of a wing-nut though.

Why can't a Mark8 tow a boat though? It's got plenty of power, lock out OD (on any Ford product), and the suspension should be able to handle the tongue weight.

I get a kick out of fwd suv's trying to tow boats around...

I pm'ed him about how to fix his light and LVC...



I too own a MarkVIII, mine's a 97. There are at least 2 options that you can do. One is go to Ford and get the halogen retrofit kit, it's $1300 or more. Two is to go to lincolnvscadillac.com then look at the markviii forums. Do a search on hid replacement. There are a few kits that have adapter rings and use regular hid bulbs and ballasts. No, I am not a bot or spammer, just a fellow markviii owner helping out another. I post as rayner601 over there.

His response was thanks, but that isn't an acceptable resolution or something like that...what a terd...

It's not the suspension that's the issue, it's the overheated transmission. The trans is already running hot when they left Wixom.

Some people just 'get off' on moaning about stuff while others (us) actually get things done.
 
I pull a 22' pontoon boat with mine all of the time, no problem. However I DO have an inline tranny cooler as well as a larger oil cooler. I moved 3 times with my 93, about 6 trips per move. it made it 4 more years before the tranny needed rebuilt.

I don't blame him about being pissed about that. These companies should not be able to stop producing something that is required to be used to keep the car running and street legal. 10 years is nothing, because most of those parts will last about 10 years. So they basically catered the law to not have to worry about people that buy the car secondhand. That isn't right, and truthfully should be dealt with by the transportation authorities.

As soon as I get my law degree I'm going to find companies that make a multitude of cars with issues like that which can't be fixed and use that to pin them to the wall and change the laws. Noone looks out for the consumers anymore.

i got em from mafioso, they were like 250 or somethin, the lights and ballasts you can get cheap, check out the photbucket link i posted, the cool thing was the adapters mafioso had made up -

Not any more. I would do the conversion and sell both my working HIDs right now if I could get the adapter rings. Wouldnt mind one heat range up eaither.
 
Is there any way to get an adapter ring to make a mold out of? If so I'm going to contact Dario (the owner of Steeda) and see if he would be interested in CNC'ing these for our cars. He likes to work with all cars Ford and may do something for this if there is a market.

Oh yeah and I forgot to mention before.....Does that guy really think his Chrysler 300m is Beautiful? My wife and I call it the Chrysler Cockroach! What an ugly ass car!
