Hello Everyone,
I wanted to try this again with a more popular product. Please let me know if you're interested in the Beltronics RX 65 pro radar detector. It competes directly with the Valentine One, and with very similar performance, its a much better value. I'm going to start at $275 shipped and I can go down if there is enough interest. I'm looking for ten firm requests before I can drop lower.

An internet search will show this item cheaper at overstock.com but it is important to note that these are typically refurbished items and Bel does not honor any warranty on a product purchased at that location. Same goes for Buy.com. If you need, just read some of the issues people have had purchasing from those locations. Bel will honor the warranty on items that you purchase through this group buy; you will deal directly with them should there be an issue with the product.

I tried in the past to offer the Blinder Extreme M27 laser jammer and the thread got a little cluttered with morels. Its a laser jammer, and currently the best on the market. Visit blinder.net if you'd like to know more. $425 shipped would be the starting point this time, but just like the item above, that can go down with enough interest... 10 units there too. Like above, some internet places try to pass off older models as the M27 so be aware of that and similar warranty issues. Blinder warranty is good for items purchased in this group buy and you'll deal with them directly as well.

I'll keep the offer open for a while, but if I get some firm offers and interest dies down, I can't make people wait too long. You don't have to pay up front, but I will require payment before I place the orders.

Lets keep the thread on topic and only reply if you're interested in the product. I'm happy to answer any questions about the product. I currently have the Blinder installed and its worth it to me with all the laser/ lidar enforcement (ticket quota speed traps) going on during my 80 mile/day commute. I currently run a cobra xrs9775 but my bel rx 65 is on its way!

I have to throw in the standard disclaimer.... LvC and myself are not responsible in any way whatsoever for anything that happens to you as a direct or indirect result of purchasing these products from me. Obey all traffic laws. I will not ship products to locations in which it is unlawful to use them.

Thanks for your interest!
Dave

How does it stack up against the valetine? Do you sell these or something? just curious cause you also did that other group buy.

If it was a valentine group buy i'd be in for sure, got any of those planned?

Bel, escort, whistler, and cobra is all I can do (Bel and escort are the only worthwhile radar products of that bunch IMO).

As for comparison, here's some articles... http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleid=9090

That last link has some info on the laser jammer as well. Note the date of the tests as well since firmware and other tweaks can improve performance. Older tests are in there too so you can see how they change over the years. Keep in mind real world usefulness of the data as well. The V1 is certainly a nice product, but you pay a premium for it ($400). The RX65 provides plenty of warning to adjust your driving.

Yeah, they're a bit expensive. Don't know if they're that good anymore, although you can send them back (for a fee) and get the latest internal updates.

I have had the RX65, the Bel STi Driver and the Valentine. I prefer hands-down the V1. The arrows are indispensable once you have them. They help me find the radar source much quicker and the V1 had more range than the STi. On our last trip the V1 saved me from 5 tickets. Too bad for the dudes that passed me didn't have a detector! The CHP was ticket happy that day!

The Sti driver is the ONLY detector invisible to all spectre radar detector detection. Arrows and rear antenna on the V1 are gimmicky to me, since radar bounces off everything... but you can't deny its sensitivity.

This is all good info... However, I'm trying to focus on the Bel RX 65 in this thread since its much more affordable and still plenty capable of providing consistent advanced warning. How was your experience with the RX 65?

I read the first article and it seemed like the Bel RX65 outperformed the valentine, but in the third link, the valentine did better than the Bel RX65, so which one is it? lol.

I also liked the valentine for the smaller add on stealth unit. Was thinking of doing some fun fab work to hide it well and not let it stick out in the open.

The thing I dont like about radar detector is how the have to mount them on your windshield, in plain sight and it looks "messy" in a way. Thats why I was leaning towards the valentine to keep the look clean with the stelath add on unit.

I dont know now though

There are many factors to consider, the main one being how the test vehicles are positioned. I'm sure no two people test the same way. It just shows they are comparable.

I have my detector mounted high... above the rear view mirror, and just to the right of my visor. The front face peeks forward just under the windshield tint. It's difficult to see (even when you know its there) from outside or when leaning in the window. I keep the display on dim so its harder to see from behind at night. Its hardwired in, stealing power from the mirror.

Mount your radar detector here.
Cops and thieves never see it here even if they have their head in your window.
It's in the tint bar and can hardly be seen from outside unless you know it's there.
I love my V1.
The arrows tell me if there's a cop behind me or coming from the sides as I approach an intersection.

How was your experience with the RX 65?

OK. It did let me down a couple of times from a cop coming up from behind. It showed a weak signal so I thought the cop was well ahead He was, in fact, about a mile behind (I did see his headlights) me. I work with radar every day so know it's capabilities. The rear facing antenna on the V1 allows the unit to distinguish from where the signal is coming. My Valentine has yet to let me down. In fact, the arrows alerted me more than once of a rear-pacing cop. Both times I didn't get the ticket (with the Bel I got pulled over and received a speed warning); once being pulled over for no front plate. With the arrows and "bogey" counter you know how many cops are there and have a very good idea where.

I was once a Valentine "whatever" kind of guy. After 2 years with the V1 I am now a Valentine convert!

But the Bel did tell you radar was present (K or Ka I assume)? I usually become paranoid at that point and ease up until I spot them or it goes away. A mile behind is a long distance as well, I'd say that's pretty good for rear facing. I wouldn't expect a strong signal at that point.

Not disagreeing, just making sure no one concludes the effectiveness of the unit based on a couple instances where a warning was ignored. I also want people to be educated about how the product works and what it wasn't designed to do so they're not surprised later.

Again, I don't have mine installed quite yet but I hope to provide a good comparison to my cobra x9775. The bel should be in a different league and provide a greater safety margin, and my cobra hasn't let me down... haven't been pulled over in 7 years with my my current and previous cobra but there were some instances where it didn't give me much time to react.

Not trying to start anything, either. My personal preference after using both, for the same amount of time, is the V1 (especially for $400). It just gives me more time to react and I find the arrows invaluable.

I'm with Alax on this one. I have wanted a V1 for a while, with the modded faceplate.

Not trying to change your mind- I just can't get those. Even if I could, I doubt I'd be able to drop the price. Just offering a good product at a good price to those interested.

There are discussions about both the Blinder and the Bel RX 65 Pro in there.

found another cool test...
http://www.guysoflidar.com/radar-detector-test-fall-2006/radar-detector-test.html

the first set of tests is blatently not real world, but a torture test so to speak, where they blocked the radar gun with radar absorbant foam and then let the detectors sniff them out.

the last test is real world though... the over the hill test (and around a curve). The RX 65 was very comparable to the V1 and even beat it at some frequencies.

Bump

I'm close to 10 but ironically through no one on this forum.
Thought there might be more interest here. If I move the price to $250 now (for the Bel RX 65), I'm hoping that gets me there. You would have to pay shipping though.

So this is it, I'll check this thread for another week and then place my order. Please PM me with your requests.
Thanks guys!

I just drive 5 over the speed limit. No need for a radar detector here.

That's where I put mine, for the same reasons. They don't use IR in my area, so being behind the tint is not really an issue for me. (I do notice that it still picks up some sort of IR source from the local airport.)

When they're in a good mood, you can get away with 14 over. When they're in a bad mood, even one over might get you. I usually just do 5 or 10 over, but I like to know when they're clocking me.

I hear that. I got pulled over for a 32 in a 30 once. Which is just retarded. You'd think there could at least be room for a little speedometer error or something. So I go 30 in town. 63-64 in a 60. 70 in a 65.

My Garmin GPS reads 4-5 mph slower in the 75-90 range.
Presuming the GPS is more accurate going 5 mph over the limit on the highway you're probably not speeding ;)
