I actually called in and the car is still available, the gentleman begins to tell me how great this car is... I say "Holy crap" he replys "Yes it's truly a great vehicle low miles etc"...I reply "No the Carfax just came in as speak and this vehicle is declared a salvage vehicle" He replys "Well sir if you call back after 9:30 we can provide more info, we are currently closed". This is crazy that they would advertise a previously crashed vehicle on the web and it's and actual car dealership!:soapbox:

based on the crash pictures the impact was pretty light. i bet there was no frame damage on that. i would drive it. if it was mine i would have def bought it back. def wouldnt pay what theyre asking but geez an 06 with under 50k... that car is gonna run a long time, gen 1 front end or not. theres a ton of $$ to be made on salvage cars bc you know someone is going to buy that for more than its worth. i would say if you come in @ < $4.5k on that youre looking at a good deal depending on how well they painted and assuming everything is in working order

Could this be a testament to how well our cars are built? I mean after looking at the crash photos and then as it sits now. Someone did a heck of a job on it. It would be nice to see under the hood. Could it be that the insurance company totalled it because they figured it wasn't worth the cost of repairs and someone else thought it was. Really someone could have made a fortune parting it out. The price they're asking is well below what a complete 2006 blue books with that mileage. It has the good stereo.

jrand: technically speaking I think you are correct. But!

There is one problem: They have to tell the potential customer that the car was crashed and fixed. These guys are out to rip someone off.

right on; they will probably total almost any LS that is wrecked due to the fair market value of the car vs cost of repair. just buy it back and fix it yourself if youre in that situation. shop around for salvage parts in the same color and bolt em on. thats what i did. my car isnt worth sh*t in $$ value but in terms of useful life I got a hell of a deal on my 05 with ~75k after insurance salvaged it.

i dont think they have to put it in the ad. if when someone buys this and the title doesnt say SALVAGE REBUILD (or whatever they call it in the state in question) then they committed a crime. I agree that they will likely waste someone's time showing them the car and then whip out the salvage title at the last second hoping that the buyer glosses it over and just signs everything. its pretty shady because they will waste someone's time who doesnt know its a salvaged car, but if someone is too dumb to read the paperwork then thats their own dumb*ss fault and a testament to the quality of the rebuilders work (although it all looks bolt-on, and thats pretty hard to screw up)

Someone needs to get in touch with the guy that did the bodywork. He may be useful to some. The jury is still out, however, as we have yet to see under the hood.

I don't know what you consider as light? However,it is apparent that this was a very hard hit and there is some form of frame damage. I wouldn't trust this repair job never know the extent of this damage.

2 fenders, a hood, 2 headlights and a bumper assy. they all bolt on. no frame damage.
you could count the # of metal bolts involved in the repair on your fingers and toes.
you can tell theres no frame damage bc the rebar is intact. the upper RH bolt prolly broke pullin the car off of whatever it hit. all that sht is aluminum thats why it crinkles like that. the radiator is prolly still good too. i bet that car went for like $1200 @ auction
