i want to put 4:10's in the 95 i bought. my question is, can i just put gears in and thats all? does anything have to be done to the computer or tranny if i put in gears? in old cars its simple, put in gears and you were done, but its not that easy today, i dont want to wreck anything if i just put gears in it. what has to be done after putting in the gears? thanks.

Should go ahead and do a trac loc while in there.
Its also reccomended to swap all the carrier and pinion bearings if the car has allot of miles. You will need crush sleeves and pinion seals and axle seals too.
The only other thing would be a new gear for the trans VSS so the speedo reads somewhat right. I think you need a 23 tooth gear for the 4.10s.

oh no no i realize i am going to do a full rebuild to a center section i already have, i just wasnt sure if i put a rebuilt pumpkin in the car, do i have to do anything electrical to make it right, like reprogramming the trans or computer or whatever. but yes i am gonna do a full pumpkin rebuild i didnt just mean slap a ring and pinion in it and go beat it lol!!!!!!!!

Then all ya need is a 23 tooth VSS gear. I just looked and all I have are some 17,18,19 tooth gears.
I bought my 21 tooth from Max and it was preatty damn cheap.

Pretty much every where else it will be $15 shipped.

cool, well i know what i'm gonna do some extra side work to buy hee hee hee!! i want the car quick but not fast, i just hate how off the line doffy the marks are, 4:10's should change that for me hopefully. if i step on it from a dead stop i want the car to accelerate hard.

I thought that with 4.10s that it is a good thing to have the shift
points moved or the car will shift to early

I might just be speaking in the wind here but it might not hurt to have the PCM programmed to the W3Z2 specs with the chip installed for a better calibration than the current PCM you have in the 95. Just a thought but Tommy would know if it would help any to make a difference.

Also with the 4.10s you will need a drive shaft too. Thats whats holding me up installing my 3.73s and trac loc. Right now at 110 I start to get vibrations that by 120 are really annoying so by my calculations I will get that vibration around 80-85 and I spend too much time at that speed.
Long straight country roads for miles in all directions before I hit civilization and doing 60 just takes too long to get a cheese burger.

Laser, go grocery shopping and buy some hamburger meat and buns. You'll get that burger a little quicker. ;) Don't forget the cheese!

4:10's are definetly more fun, but you will need the driveshaft for sure

You can also get your stock shaft balanced. Much cheaper than a custom shaft.

When I put 4.30's in my Cougar, I had to get a stock shaft from another MN12, shorten it (Bill at SCP sent me a tranny with a truck tail-stock), then balance it.

Anyways, no vibration issues here.
