so with any job no matter how small i search around for tips and tricks and crap like that. while looking at belt replacement i found KK mention that a gatorback is directional. however i do not see any marks on the belt that imply which direction is correct. so how are we do we figure it out. here is the quote that started me wondering,

Huh?

There is a forward and backwards... trust me... think directional tire...

the only thing on the belt is some lame nascar endorsment. so how does it really matter

You should be able to read the belt normaly from the front of the car.

Does not appear to be directional. Mine is just over 40K old.

i didnt think so. but ya never know. i always put them on so the nascar looks proper when your looking at it. i do know the jackass that sold me the car had a belt that was the wrong size. it was a major pain to try and get it off i ended up just cutting the damn thing. not sure how he even got it on in the first place. im not sure if its the placebo affect but the car feels like it runs much smoother now with a belt that isnt slipping and is proper size.

They are not directional...

I agree. If they were you'd think it would say so on the package and there would be arrows on the belt itself. I just installed one ealier this week, I also read the same thread and thought it was directional. I installed so the writing could be read normally, started the car and it was soooo smooth. Very happy.

They may or may not be directional but I had one that would jump ribs and try to crawl off. I changed pulleys and even got a new tensioner and still had issues.

Then I turned the belt around. Wala! It was fixed. :)

It really depends on how much driving in reverse you do....

Trying to remember which import forum that was where a ricer thought his engine stopped and spun backwards when he went in reverse.
