ok dudes i tried installing a double din radio today. It wasnt going all the way in so i pushed it in a bit and then all of a sudden the radio turned off including the messege display and gas gauge....the buttons on the messege center dont sound either...did i blow a fuse somewhere or something?

yeah. you probably blew a fuse.

pull the radio back out and find what shorted. the sharp edges on the radio cage tend to cut things.

then replace whatever fuse blew.

what fuse you think I blew chris? oh wait you have a gen 1 the fuses are probably placed differently than the gen 2's.

ok fixed it...now to figure out why the double din wont go all the way in.....do i have to mod something on the back or something.

Remove the mount and relocate the srs module thing.

And dude seriously? Whats with you and not checking fuses first before starting a new topic? First the headlights now this. In the future check em' before posting.

I might be wrong here but a lot of double dins don't just slide right in like you would think they should. Most require some trimming out to be done so that it can slide right in.

What did you get for a DD unit? Kenwood eXcelon? :)

Kenwood Shemanwood....Alpine or Pioneer atw!

:shifty:

Ok, we'll take your word for it. :shifty: If I had the cash to blow and I listened to the music like I used to and actually drove the car more than once a week, I'd personally get this bad boy. I just can't justify the cost. $1024.00 and as low as $892.00

Far more features. Far better screen. Far better EQ. Far better preamp stage. Pandora built in. Hard drive built in. Superior menu and touch screen. The Kenwood is a Dual or Boss next to this thing.

AVIC Z130BT - BIG DISCOUNT on This In-Dash Navigation - YouTube

I don't understand what makes the screen any better and Pandora is also built into the 9980HD. 13 band EQ and the Pioneer is a 7 band. Kenwood has 5 volt pre-amp outputs vs. Pioneers 4 volt. I'm just not seeing it's superiority over the Kenwood eXcelon but either way, I wouldn't pay the price for neither. Me and you have went back and forth about Kenwoods and Pioneers for about 4 years now lol. It's all in fun though. :p

The 9980 has 7 channel pre-amp outputs and the Pioneer has 6 channels. If anything, looks like the Pioneer is lacking features that the Kenwood has and the screen is LCD, neither are better than the other. Both are touch screens. Kenwoods are motorized for different angles of viewing. Pioneer have that? It's all about ones preference I suppose. If someone sent me a free AVIC-Z130BT, it would be for sale on ebay the next day to pocket the cash as I don't have use for Navigation. My single DIN plays Pandora from my Samsung Infuse and sounds crystal clear but I never use that either anymore. I just let it answer the phone for me for the most part. DUAL, Kenwood, BOSS, Pioneer, etc.. all beat the stock junk that came in our cars. That's if the person does a complete rewire and installs their own amps.

Kenwood eXcelons 9980 features are below and look to me like they exceed what the Pioneer AVIC is providing. JMO

Comparing the Kenwood eXcelon to a DUAL or BOSS? Come on Bill...

Terrance its simple. Kenwood makes a good deck. Pioneer makes a better one. More bands does not mean a better EQ. Pioneer actually produces 4 volts. The Kenwood does not wven put out 3v despite their 5v claim. Yes the Pioneer can be viewed at different angles. The resolution on the screen is also better. The Pioneer also has a wider viewing angle. The Pioneer makes less background noise.

I still install systems on a professional level. I still have installed several thousand more than you. I still know via experiance which deck is better.

Hook both decks up in the same car with the same supporting equipment and the Pioneer will sound better which is what a stereo is supposed to do.

No thanks but...

W/E Bill. You know it all and are perfect. The almighty Bill Lindsey has spoken. Someone with experience would be able to spell the word, experience. My name isn't Terrance either.

You should introduce yourself as the new LVC troll that doesn't own a Mark but bashes everyone else on here that asks a question. You are surely not the same Bill I met in 2008. I liked Frogman better as a troll.

Now we have the DNX9990HD to go against the Pioneer.
