These Lincoln remotes really suck. I gave away my OEM 97 one to Gman cause he needed one and were friends. I have this Mercury peanut shaped one that eats batteries like crazy! I have bought three pairs of $5 each batteries in the last couple months. Now the damn thing wont even lock the door now. :( It seems the buttons are worn and thats prolly from me pushing too hard on it as the batteries die.

Is this normal? Do the guys with the peanut shaped remotes kill batteries faster? I know the square ones use different and cheaper batteries but I just thing the 97 remote looks nicer. I wouldnt have just now ordered a new one (place on ebay has new ones for $20) if it wernt for the fact I just bought a 10 pack of the CR1616 batteries. I hope it was maybe a bad remote or something. I mean now that I found a place that sells 30 packs for $6 the battery cost is no longer an issue but sure sucks to swap em every month.

My 98 came with a square remote for memorey #2 but the remote has no battery and is all coroded inside so it may not even work..

So what ones are best? The big earlier square first gen versions, the peanut shaped 97 versions or the last grey 98 versions?

I've never had problems with battery life on oem remotes. Mine lasted pretty long, until both remotes went to sh1t. I always had to press hard or certain spots on the pad for any of the functions to work. This is for my 97 oem remotes.

Can u link to the place on eBay for the peanut shaped please? I'm tired of struggling with the lock as it gets sticky sometimes.

Thanks.

I have one of the peanut shaped ones (dog bones), and it has slowly died over the last few weeks to where it now doesn't work at all.

Took it apart once and it worked for a week, but stopped again shortly.

I think the peanut ones just are not very durable. They look nicer and more Lincoln then Ford. I will try this new one and if it dies in a year or so then I will just get a plain jane one.

Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Now if you want a specific memory numbered one you have to call them and order which works out cause it was a couple bucks less too. He said it will go out today and will prolly be here Saturday. :)

I used my Gen 1 remote for the 94 for 5 years and never had to buy a battery. It's now programmed to the 95, along with the one that Jamie gave me when I bought the car. I'm still using the remote that went to the 94 and it reaches pretty far so the batter must still be good lol. I always wondered if it would ever die. Never had a button problem either.

My battery just died and I need a new one. I always wondered about those peanut fobs though.

I might have a few laying around, 1 or 2 for sure, maybe more....let me check We always have a bunch of old ass remotes at the stealership. No Mem 1 or 2 but will work doors....

Happy to pass on for shipping cost.

That would be cool cause I would like another so I have two sets with keys. #2 would be nice but I dont even care if it has a memory switch since I will have the #1 remote sent this week.
It appears my old one thats square is overly shot too. :(

Considering these remotes were in my dads hands since it came out of the dealership, it's not too bad. My old man never used the keys to open the doors. It was either the remotes or the number pad.

Just my luck for them to self destruct once in my hands.

ThAnks for the link Laser. I'm going to order one. I just love how the lights around the mark turn on when remote is activated.

OK...screw-rice and lasersvt got you covered. I will check batteries and send out...pm with mailing name & addy.

One of 'em is a #1 Memory...who wants that one?

Think I have a third non-mem, if anyone else interested.

Ed

OK, 98, done. Send me a PM with "ship to" and all 3 will go out tomorrow

That's all I have....if I locate anymore I'll post.

Have plenty Black square ones but they won't work on out cars....

So am I reading this correctly that the memory feature on the remote is a Gen 2 only feature? I assume so cause my Gen 1 has 2 square remotes but nothing about memory.

Don't know if all series will work with Gray squares....but I THOUGHT all Gens had memory remote feature???

Remotes are in mail to Laser, Screw-Rice, and 98linc this AM...
I checked and programmed up all three on my Gen II this AM, all are good to go:)

Cheers

You are teh absolute man!!! I feel I should send you something though. :(

Silly me for not seeing this thread earlier, I certainly could use a #1 Memory Remote if anyone has one laying around.

Sucks living in a cold climate. Remote wouldn't work, so threw in another battery. Still wouldn't program so I took it apart. There was condensation inside the remote.

Held it up to a heater vent for a couple minutes, and it works great.

Wow Ed! Thanks! Got mine today too. So nice being able to unlock the doors again. Hell the one I paid for still hasnt been shipped and I bought it the day before your offer!

Thanks again mang, that was uber cool. :)

Yeah, just like most of you guys here, he is a class act.

It is nice having a remote again and especially the puddle lamps. I walk up to the car pretty often in the dark and there is ice everywhere in this place.
