Let me start by saying the window is up when it is closed and I repaired the channel that was off inside the door. Maybe its the window motor which I can't find in the door? I checked every screw coming thru or into the door and found none loose. Anyone got any other ideas of what it might be?

Just a normal closing of the door. I really thoought the channel was going to solve it. But I should have realized with the window closed it isn't in the channel at that point. I don't notice anything wrong in the window going up and down,so that ruled out the motor being loose?

Run your hand across the entire bottom of the door cavity, something could be loose/broke and banging around.

When you put the window guide peice back in did you line up the clip that was on the upper portion of it?

Are all the plastic hangers on the door panel intact?

Door lock rods?

I'd open it back up again and start investigating.

Did it make the noise before you operated on it? If not, then I'd bet you put it together not right

Its not closed back up yet. Door lock rods would be a rattle sound this is a definite clunk or bump sound like thud?

I had aLready done that which is how I found the door channel in the bottom of the door. The idiots who owned this car before me had broken a lot of the plastic retaining hooks off in the door. Those that were still there I have fibreglassed back together. All the window and door lock buttons were broken. I have replaced all of them and am ready to put the door panel back on except for this clunk. Anyone know where the window motor is attached? I think that would be the next place to look at?

If you've got the panel off, and can't find the window motor..-sigh-

Its between the hinges and the handle

Like mentioned way up above, I believe something is in the very bottom of the door. Maybe an extension from a ratchet or something... Guess I would have to hear the clunk.

I have run my hand as far as I can back and forth in the bottom of the door. Nothing else is in it.

Open the door, sit on the seat sideways and shake the door back and forth... Follow the noise if any.

My door panels are thaaaat close to literally falling apart. My door panels rattle. My console rattles. My dashboard rattles. The whole fuggin' car rattles. It drives me nuts. Especially driving down the crappy dirt road to my house. You're lucky all you got is a "clunk". But I do hope you find what the problem is.

What color is your interior?

It's tan. I don't know the actual color. But this is it:

Well, it doesn't look this good anymore. The seat trim is falling off, the woodgrain bezel around the center stack is cracked in several places, and the squeaks and rattles are getting worse. Some day I'm planning on taking the door panels off and reinforcing them with fiberglass like I did with my '96 a couple of years ago. And get this:

Just noticed this today. I swear it wasn't there yesterday:eek::confused:

Edit: And I just noticed another crack at the bottom of the trim that I didn't notice until I saw the picture!! Damn!

I found so many pieces broken on the backside of the door panel. I fixed them using a small fibreglass kit from Walmart. The armrest was all but broken off where it mounted. Now its stronger than new.

I got no noises doing that. I did try closing the door with my ear near it and it sounds like it is coming right near the door lock. The retaining window channel is held tightly. So I cannot find what it is. I need to hook up the window buttons and put the window down and see what noise I get with the window down.

Look for a plug hanging loose. Sometimes the wires harness hangers dangle when the tape breaks

Thay: I've got a set of good panels, but they are cream. I've got a spare instrument bezel tho, shoot me a pm
