Figured a few of us might get a kick out of this... Traveler blew up his motor, looks like #1 injector stuck open and seized the engine. We ordered a motor from a pretty reputable supplier of used engines whom puts a lifetime guarantee on their motors. Anywho, they didn't have a 6 bolt 4.6 for this expedition. So, they found a motor in Florida and had it shipped to us. 500+ miles for a junkyard motor, basically. It comes on the back of a semi on a pallet, and I bring it in the shop. This motor looks like its been sitting in a field for a year, rusty and corroded looking. One of the rear freeze plugs is rotted completely out, but my manager says we don't have enough time to wait for another engine, it took 2 weeks to get this one in the first place. So i fix the freeze plug and install the motor. Took me an afternoon of tinkering and figuring out that the spark plug wells were full of water to finally get it to crank. Blah blah blah, the motor has to come back out, this is what is coming out of the oil pan. The cooling system holds NO pressure at all, somewhere internally there is a large hole letting the coolant into the oil, even with the engine not running.
Guess its not ALL bad, I am getting payed 17 hours again to R/R the engine.
