Custom Tail lights

Yeah. Inside the light, evenly spaced and they would look sweet. Actually its funny you brought this thread back.... today I was behind a 03 style mustang and it had some kind of mod to the taillights so it blinked in sequence from right to left (like the new models) and I thought that might be cool to tryout (if possible anyway).

EDIT: Actually this is it here http://www.americanmuscle.com/sequential-taillights-splice-9604.html

yea i've seen those before, not too much of a fan. The sequential thing would just be too much for the LS.

Thats actually stock on the newer mustangs now.

The LS doesnt have the right style taillight for it.

That's much better. Now if you diffused the light somehow, for straight Audi-like lines, that would be perfect.

Great work!

Pics of this?

Yea I pretty much did the same thing, only had more LEDs. But the viewing angle is too distorted through the bumpy lense. I don't think a truly clean LED swap is possible unless someone full blown retrofits another car's taillights or does some kind of one-off hybrid taillight...

That would look sweet. But the lense would have to be flat.

I think the only thing that really needs to be replaced is the bumpy lense. If they were smooth like the gen2 lights they wouldnt get distorted and the pattern would shine through cleanly. If you mean for it to look truly clean like it came molded from the factory, like an aftermarket taillight, that is true.

Not sure on the gen1, but the gen2 has ridges/bumps inside the lense to disperse the light. This is the issue.

Oh ok, I thought they were smooth on the inside as well as the outside.

What I did was put my lines of leds in the "ridge".. I thought they came out pretty clean. I wish o had more time so I could finish it (and a lot of the other projects I have started).....
