Since my A/C is not in working order, I decided to unplug the compressor and set the climate control at MAX AC. This runs the cooling fan full time. Will this burn out the fan or am I ok to continue like this?
Why?
A Gen 2 Mark VIII has a variable speed PCM controlled fan that operates as needed to maintain the temp that's set in the tune. Get a decent 180 degree thermostat and set the desired temp to something around 186. No need to run the fan continuously. Ford products are notorious for burning out the fan connectors, why risk it?
What is the desired temp, stock?
210 degrees in a Gen 2. I have no idea what the fan settings are in a Gen 1, but I don't believe that they use a variable speed fan, controlled by the PCM, I think it's a simple 2-speed fan.
gen1 also has the vlcm and variable speed fan. My tbird has the simple 2-speed fan and a ccrm controlling it.

The Gen 1s do have the variable speed fan controlled by the VCRM, the MN12s are 2 speed?

I don't know about all MN-12's, but my '95 SC has a two speed fan setup.
