Since my A/C is not in working order, I decided to unplug the compressor and set the climate control at MAX AC. This runs the cooling fan full time. Will this burn out the fan or am I ok to continue like this?

I don't see anything wrong with it. I do the same thing. In this weather 100+ I'd run it that way even if it worked.

A Gen 2 Mark VIII has a variable speed PCM controlled fan that operates as needed to maintain the temp that's set in the tune. Get a decent 180 degree thermostat and set the desired temp to something around 186. No need to run the fan continuously. Ford products are notorious for burning out the fan connectors, why risk it?

What is the desired temp, stock? The stock T-Stat in my Mark VIII is a 188*. I can't imagine the tune's desired temp setting can be much more?

I always figured if I wanted to go lower, I'd like a 175* or so - do they make such a beast? My thinking is if the standard t-stat in my Bird is a 192* and a 180* is a good upgrade (12* difference), than a 188* stock stat should have like a 175* (13* difference) to be comparable.

210 degrees in a Gen 2. I have no idea what the fan settings are in a Gen 1, but I don't believe that they use a variable speed fan, controlled by the PCM, I think it's a simple 2-speed fan.

Gen1 also has the VLCM and variable speed fan. My TBird has the simple 2-speed fan and a CCRM controlling it.

These cars are also taxed when it comes to the charging system.
I have seen threads were members have ran the fan contentiously and have ran into alternator/battery issues.
Fix your air....its a 100 degs!
Mine has a small leak and demands a can in the spring.

The Gen 1s do have the variable speed fan controlled by the VCRM, the MN12s are 2 speed?

I ran a cooling fan bypass for a long, long time. With a 160 T-stat and the bypass on at the track, I could keep heat soak at bay, even when hot-lapping.
