Console mod ideas

My 97 LSC had a broken ashtray and cupholder, so i took them out and made a filler panel. Does anyone have any creative ideas of what to do with this area?

Im thinking of reattaching the lid extension and leaving it blank, or maybe dropping in a single cupholder.

Thought about integrating my GPS but im afraid of things getting spilled on it.

I think it'll look nice just with the cup holder cover that is if you don't mind not having a ash tray and cup holders. With a dip for a cup holder may look, if i dare say, cheap and unfitting.

If you are able to get a double cupholder out of a Lincoln LS, they do have a cool holder that is chromed rim. And it will fit in there perfect. This is what I am thinking of for mine even though mine are not broke.

Fill it with switches! One for rocket launcher, one for smoke screen, one for oil spill, one for NAWZ!! and an ejector seat button!

Seriously though, if I had done that then thats where my USB, ASHAM and bass knob would have gone.

I will look into that, thanks. I think i am liking it blank for right now, i will see how long it takes me to miss the cupholder.
I did glue the silver button back in so that looks better.

I think this is one of the flaws the MK8 brought! The position of the cup holder in both the 1st gen & the 2nd Gen... If any of you are like me, you drive with one hand on the steering wheel, the other on the shift knob, as soon as you place anything bigger than an expresso cup in there, it simply stands in the way! I hate placing cups in the cup holder.

I think the trunk is a perfect place for a cup holder... or two!

I drive mine the same way as you..Most of the time..
As for the cupholder i find it useless. I mean if they actually made it sturdy i could see myself using it if i had to. I just keep it closed, esp if i have a passenger..1 out of maybe the 3 times i've used it my ex nearly broke both the dam wings..Never again unless i'm by myself and actually need it for the occasional hot beverage.. Other then that i drink stuff with twist tops so theres no need..

agreed. i never have anything that fits in the cup holder anyways.

Alott of people put the ASham suspension control switches in that area.
