Considering Trading My Mclaren Grille for an LSE

you want to use that on the lse chrome center grille?

Ive never been a fan of rattle can finishes no matter how hyped up they make the product sound.

yea, it should work right? most applications i've seen, from searching, is the on badges. like this:

Buy a can of it and try it on something disposable, first. Most times, like BlackLS06 points out, rattle can versions of chrome stuff turn out poorly. I am picturing it ending up looking like dirty or dull chrome. The emblems you post certainly do not look like black chrome, although they do look like a decent gunmetal finish.

Intresting, I wouldn't sell the mclaren I know in my chase for the"mclaren" they were selling for over 250. Cant you buy an Lse grill from Max for less than 175?? IMO Lse grills look good with chrome wheels

I'd trade my Gen1 LSE for a Mclaren anyday

And I'd really like to cut out the lower "grille" refinish all the cuts smooth-repaint and maybe put some black CDC type grille mesh. That'd look great.

I have a F6 LSE grille and I've always wanted a McLaren grille but there is no way I'd trade.

I want both :p

Honestly the McLaren is wortth more than an LSE is brand new. So since you both have white cars it only makes sense to trade. Do it Rod. You won't get a painted mclaren for your car for the price of a used LSE anywhere.

Hmm...

hard to see a difference on the pics posted on the dupli color website testimonials. if you do it you should set up a pic with one done and one untouched, im curious to see how this would turn out.

Josh, as always you bring up a great argument.

I have a chrome 8 spoke sitting around, ill try it on that first and see how it goes. I'll report back with pictures.

I want to try it this weekend that I have sometime, but I really haven't seen this kit in stores. Has anyone? So ill prob have to order online.

EDIT: Checked online, and Autozone near me apparently has it, so i'll report back ASAP

It should turn out alright. I saw a picture of a chrome tahoe bumper that someone used the paint on and it turned out pretty good. I would agree it's more of a polished gunmetal look than black chrome.

Now a'days people say the chrome spray in cans is actually turning out right. It used to be that they sucked big time but a few people say they work great.

If you want a black chrome look someone I know was talking about using that lens tint with a really light coat. They say a good secrete to getting bubbles out and such is to bake it at very low temps for a few minutes after you spray the item. Treat it like you would stained glass paint. Spray light coats and plop it in the oven between coats. I never saw it but it makes sense that it should work to a degree since its juts a tinted clear coat going over a chrome surface. I have seen a co-worker use heavy coats of yellow on chrome before to get a goldish chrome look and it does turn out how you would think.

You could also mix your own clear with a drop of black if that lens stuff is to dark.
