I know a lot of gen2 guys run cobra intakes with no clearance issues but I havent seen any gen1s with cobra intakes under stock hoods. Has anybody done a cobra intake on a gen1 with a stock hood?

Here man.

These pics were taken by Jeremi on his/my old 95.

This was also with 1/2" spacers on the K member. If I were you, I would use the spacers AND have the fins on the upper intake hat milled down flush.

as far as i know it won't fit under a gen 1. My buddy bought a 95 from a guy who cut the crossbracing to clearance the cobra intake, but the fiberglass hood ended up cracking out because there was to much flex.

well, mike was the guy i was talking about and there you go! lol we posted at the same time.

Don't do it. It will not fit. I was led to believe by several people back in 2000 that with minor mods it will fit, but at the end of the day we had to cut up the hood to be able to drive it home, and suffice to say it looked and function like :q:q:q:q. Milling the intake + spacers, and then reinforcing the cut out parts (you still have to cut the back support even if you mill it) is the only way, other than a funky hood ;)

Lookie who's car is on the wep page!!!! THESE are the people who make the VIII Cobra R hood.

Good luck getting it to fit correctly, and not wave at you as you look down it. I had 25+ hours and ALOT of material in mine to get it looking DECENT. Geno does'nt stock the hoods, They are drop shipped directly from the manufacturer.

My hood from LMS required very little labor and looks great. One exception it required hood pins. That may have been due to a pickup backing into my Mark several years ago.

the LMS hoods come from fiberconcepts. Its the same dang hood.

Yes it is but we have exclusive pricing, cheapest in the World.
They were reworked over the past few years and fit 95% now with no issues, they close fine, lines are fine, hood prop and under hood light provisions etc.

It's an aftermarket glass hood, show me ANY aftermarket glass hood that doesn't require labor, LMAO.

yea geno's right, very very few if any aftermarket hoods are 100% correct from the start.
most will require some gentle massaging to get them straight and true.

You should see some of the "fit and finish" on some of the mustang hoods.
and those guys are "happy" with them.
*shruggs*

I never said that an aftermarket fiber hood is expected to be perfect. Something has to be said about build quality, when you un-box a brand new hood, and need a half gallon of filler, and multiple primer coats to get it "somewhat" straight.

I would chalk it all up to mine being an older build method version as Geno pointed out and let it go, BUT I have talked with another person who has recently bought a fiberconcepts hood, and had the SAME issues.

I understand the VIII does'nt have any other options for aftermarket hoods, and we should be lucky there is someone making one, but don't expect a "nice looking" finish right out of the box.

BTW, What is your pricing on the hood now?

IDK, I had a Cervinis hood that fit PERFECT out of the box. I took it too my shop and they said it would be about 3 hours prep to do just a hair of smoothing and then primer, block and paint. Quoted $290 to prep and paint.

This was zero prep and I installed it myself in about 10 minutes.

Cervani's is by far the best and they guarantee fit and finish. Go ahead and try to order a mark hood from them. A second gen mark hood from anywhere as a matter of fact.

I actually really like my hood. Ill like it more after I have the dings pulled out of it. The only reason I would get a new hood would be for function. One day I may have the initiative and cash to drop a twin screw on mine and then I will be on the hunt.
I have decided that I love MY Mark enough to keep her untill she dies. With all the new stuff and the fact that it has not a single speck of rust anywhere I imagine it will last for many years to come. :)

The cowl hood make me throw up. Sorta like an person with a HUGE hook nose. But that MY opinion :)

I would rather have a fake shaker installed on the OEM hood than go cowl.

I agree 100% - not to mention, you end up losing the 'sleeper' effect.
