I promise to nicer if you promise to be smarter.
What would you guys like to see made out of CF in the Mark VIII?

I'm talking parts made out of actual Carbon Fiber cloth (3K or 6K, depending on application), with molds and all, not just a CF cloth overlay.

Of course, some interior trim pieces can only be done with cloth overlays due to the costs involved in making a mold.

Thoughts?

Shifter bezel and EATC & stereo bezel would be nice. I'm speaking for my interior application because of the black and grey two tone I have going. Ashtray and cup holder too.

I'm not good enough to make molds with mounting clip pegs in them yet. :( But I'm working on it. Pegs are a pain in the arse, because if you're even 1/8th of an inch off, the part may not clip on properly when you try to install it.

But if I get enough people interested, I may work on a mold.

But cloth overlay for any of that trim isn't that big of a deal, just time consuming, once the cloth is set. Lots of cutting, wet sanding and buffing, and I would need the parts (obviously) or a "core" as in I get the trim bezel(s) from somewhere and you send me yours to make for the next person who sends me theirs, etc.

I'm currently working on a mold (well, two of them, one for each side) for the air filter boxes on my CL. We'll see how badly I screw that one up.

Man, I love what you've got going on with that interior! Just a suggestion, though: I think you need just a little more grey splashed around. Like maybe the door handle bezels and switch panels on the door panels. Just to give it a little more uniformity. And I bet that black carpet is hard to keep clean. But I like it a lot! It makes the interior look more upscale than the simple "sea of grey" that most of the Gen1 Mark's have going on. Like mine:D. I tried to spruce mine up a little by painting the PW and PDL switch bezels body color. I think it looks pretty nice.

+1 on the Shifter bezel. Gen 2 please :)
Fake wood....yuk
I think it would look good on a blk int.

Gen 1 hood, Gen 2 cowl hood, door skins, trunk lid, dash board........ wheels. :D

Guys, Hoods, door skins and trunk lids are not exactly interior parts. If I were to do something like that, I'd make them for the W215 and W216 Mercedes chassis. That way, I could rape those Benz owners.

But seriously... Interior stuff.

Though, the evap tray is an interesting idea. Thanks you, rooster.

Carbon fiber...so ricey

Yeah, I know, Snap (chuckle). Only wanna be motors should be covered with that ricey CF stuff. Not.

No, sorry. Too much molding process.

And if you ask me about a cooling fan one more time, I'm going to send Ahmed to you in a box.

Actually, KK suggested a box in which the fan will fit perfectly. I just have to go beg, borrow or steal one from a guitar store.

I think cup holders and trim pieces would be cool, maybe that wood piece on the doors for gen2s
