To run on Charlotte's track you had to either donate $25 to their charity or purchase $50 of stuff from their gift shop (I donated).
They let you run 3-laps.
The only rule, don't pass the pace car. You can pass other cars.
My brother-in-law and I drove it for 2-sessions. The pic above is from the inside of his Dakota.
I got up to 110mph on the 2nd session. It was very, very cool. It might have been the best $25 I've ever spent!!
I believe they do this at Daytona Motor Speeway also. Both tracks don't advertise it much so they don't get overwhelmed. Both tracks do this on black Friday only (as far as I know). I really didn't even believe it was going to happen until after I purchased the tickets at the track, the whole thing seemed too good to be true. We didn't even have to wait to get on the track, we pretty much drove right into the stadium and into the staging lanes!
The bank on the track is something like 25-degrees..........that's a lot.
Next time I go to Charlotte to see my brother-in-law for turkey day, I'm taking the Vette. Doug, you can come too, as long as you make the stuffing. lol
The cars that showed up included everything from minivans, to a Hemi pick-up, a 67 Chevelle, an early 80's 911, new challengers, camaros, vettes and stangs........so basically a mix of people's toys and just regular daily drivers.
