Alternator died in a spectacular fashion...

Must have flamed out as it burned a hole thru the rear sheetmetal and scorched the intake...

Just happy it didn't barbecue the Mark...

Alternator is already gone...

I can take a pic of the intake if you want...

I video of that would have been kewl, lol... I used to have a vid of the bearing that went out on my Merc, it was showering sparks 6-8' in the air and sounded like a banshee screaming, was pretty wild ;)

Yup, its that time of year. Mine blew out a couple weeks ago and Sapperfires just burnt out today. Fuggin heat.

Don't know how well this will show up... I wiped the intake tubes down before I installed the new alternator. To the left of the green dot on the front tube the dark spot isn't a shadow...

Nothing was as cool as when my t-bird lunched it's alternator...

Sitting at a stoplight, at night, and smoke starts pouring from under the hood.

Pulled over, popped the hood... Note still running... and the entire alternator is up in flames, and the fan is pushing the flames back like on an old WWII war bird with an engine fire...

Got it put out, new alternator and harness...

You should solder one a new pigtail (grey 3wire plug in your pic) for good measure. They are common to go funny on these alts...
