So today I figured I would try and find why the ASHAM would sometimes shut off and also put it in its new home since my wire showed up.

Downside is it no longer powers up at all. It seems the small harness intercept board is bad and has a couple intermitant connections on the board tracers. I emaild the maker and asked if he can send me a new one. For now its bypassed. :(

So on to work. I wanted a nice place to mount the module but could only come up with one place that isnt so bad. Inside the center console.

I pulled it all apart and made some reliefe cuts in the basket to allow the lower ASHAM board to slide into.

Also drilled a hole for the wires:

Ran the wires through and got ready to hook it all back up again:

Here it is in place. The module is a perfict fit width wise for the console:

Then I took an old CD changer cover and trimmed it to fit then drilled the holes and cut out the display opening. Its not perfect as I trimmed a little too much off the left side but it works for now and helps to give a better "finnished" look. :)

Nice mine showed up the other day and I'll hopefully be installing it this week! Nice work. I will definitely be copying this install location.

Let's not kid ourselves. It's a nice idea, but the installation still needs to be cleaned up.

I'm sure you can make a better beauty cover than that.

He's waiting on another board or something and knowing Laser like most of us do, he will do something different but as far as something that is going to be hidden, even from the passenger of the car, I think he done a good job.

I have to do some trimming on the side to make the cover fit better but ran out of patience today from troubleshooting the system. Ill prolly finnish it up tomorrow.

Nice work dude, let me know if you need any assistance with the Asham warranty

should look good when it's done then!
i know you'll post some pictures

You should open a stereo install shop and do sh!t like this as well. Much less overhead than a hi performance style shop.

So is it possible to still get these things? I know people were saying that the guy that builds them is hard to get a hold of... Looks good Laser, but I know version 2 will look better.

Lookin good. Thats where I had mine....I never could get it to work right. It was because one of the little shiny strips on the borad going from one hookup to another was burnt. I got so fed up with it I took it out and bought a Ray's Switch. I pulled my ASHAM out yesterday and tried to figure out how to fix it.

DID NOT WANT.

So no ASHAM. But yours is lookin good man

Yeah I am fairly certain that a tracer on the small board is bad. Not the control module itself but the smaller board that has no electronic components. I hope he gets back with me cause its annoying to have such an expensive part be bad right out of the box.

He just emailed me and said he will be sending me a new board. :)

I also did what I could with the beauty plate. I dont have any more material to remake it so this will have to do till I find another CD changer cover. Next time I will trim smaller ammounts till its fitted.

So laser did you need longer wire?
If so how much longer did you need
like total amount of feet.

so in the manual I see a nice cover plate I am guessing by the fact you don't have one that it is not included?

4" and yes, thats inches and not feet. Unfortunatly I had a total brain fart when I did it. A fellow LVCr sent me the extra wire and sent enough to make the full run. Unfortunatly I R teh dumb and instead of just replacing the wire the system came with with the new proper length I just cut off a couple feet and soldiered all 11 connections then heat shrinked the connections.
The second I finished I realized what I had done.

That is for gen 1 ashtrays and for some reason he does not include the cover if you say its going in a gen 2. Nothing else is different. Not that I could use the cover anyway because it wouldnt fit.

I take that back, there may be a difference. My last one the LED strip lit up white and I carved the green cover to fit so they lit up green. This new one the LEDs already light up green.

The wire he sent you was it the same colors and if so
Would they sell it at something like micro center
