What is the black box inside the drivers door for?

Also, while I have the side door off I'd like to fix the yellowing of the lens. Jay told me once but maybe there is a walkthrough somewhere?
 
the driver's side mirror. ... also.. took a look at the cowl hood. Everything looks solid. where could moisture be coming in causing the doors to auto unlock sporatically?
 
The box sounds like the keyless entry module. It should have a sticker on the side of it with your keyless code on it. Is it all the way at the top forward corner of the door? If so, that should be it.
 
If I remember correctly the mirror glass just pops right off. It has been about 5 years since I did it so I could be wrong..
 
As for the mirror lens....

Turn the mirror all the way toward the interior of the car. This should make the outside edge stick way out. Grab the mirror there and pull it straight off. You may need to disconnect the wires before you do this, I can't remember exactly. The mirror may take a little finessing to get it to pop off. Just be careful. Once it's off, you'll need to pry off the outer rubber ring from the back side of it. I just used a really small flathead screwdriver to pry it loose around the outside. Be careful not to cut it or mess it up. Once that is off you'll see that there are 2 pieces of glass. The one on top is just glass, the bottom one is the actual mirror. You can discard the top piece of glass (you'll probably have to cut a wire to get it loose). Now you can clean off the mirror. I used glass cleaner followed by Zaino glass polish to remove the haziness. For the 3 that I've done so far, glass cleaner was not enough, but the glass polish did the trick. Once it's to your liking, you can put the rubber surround back on and it's done. You may want to use some sort of RTV sealant to get it to stay on. Then you can hook the wires back up and pop the mirror back on. Be careful to apply even pressure when pushing it back on, you don't want to break the glass.

(it must be in good physical condition, so I'm able to do the same thing with someone else) I've used them as a good conversation starter with other Mark owners.

Thanks but I'm going to go ahead and give it a go. I have it off the car already so I'm guessing it shouldn't be too difficult.
 
The box that's located at the top of the door, inside the panel, just under where the mirror is, that's the auto down module for the power window. There is one on both sides if I'm not mistaken.
 
terry where do you get this info out of your ass?? no pass side windows in any mark have the auto down feature only driverside, and the black module he asked about is the keyless entry module, gen ones have a baby blue auto down module and gen 2's are maroon.
 
Yeah, it came out of my ass lol. Notice up higher where I did mention that they were blue or the ones I had seen were. I have been up for over 48 hours jamie nearly rebuilding a 98 trans last night, till this morning. No one in the house will let me sleep. I have a headache and those blue boxes aren't all blue. I can show proof of this if I can find the other one I have out of the 93
 
it was probably changed, they are both exactly the same though just different colored plastic resin pellets when they injection molded the cases lol god i feel like a scientist after writing that!!!!!!!!!!!
 
I couldn't stand that auto down any longer so I got rid of it.

Anyone want the module? :D
