I was going to do a poll for this, but thought I would just post the questions and see what responses come back.

Now that I have my angels in, I've been trying to figure out the best way to use/run them. If I leave the lights in Auto mode, they're on only when the headlights are on, which somewhat detract from the rings being able to stand out. If I run them in Parking Light mode, then I get the turn signal bulbs to be on with the rings, which also looks less than desirable.

So, for those of you that have them how are you running your rings? Drizz, from some photos I've seen your LS can have the rings on but not the turn signal bulbs. How did you manage that?

Also, do you guys switch from Auto to Parking and back depending on time of day?

Just curious,

Tru

I have mine wired into the parking lights - this is definitely the easiest way to do it since it only involves tapping into existing wiring.
You could wire them separately, but then you'd have to mount a toggle switch or something inside to control them, plus run wiring from the switch to the rings,etc..

Also, with them wired to the parking lights, it's much easier to run with the angel eyes and fog lights when it starts to get dark (its a good look) :D

I have mine wired to the parking lights as well. I would like to have them on without the parking lights though, but wasn't too motivated to mount a toggle switch and run the extra wiring.

Angel eyes on just as the sun goes down......Head turning good.:hump:

I have mine wired into the parking lights as well (probably should have mentioned that) - the standard way to install them as referenced in Alex's pics and video. However, I know I've seen Andrizzle's with the rings and running lights on, but no turn signal bulbs on. I'm wondering how he did that - if he wired them differently or has some other trick up his sleeve.

I remember Andrizzle mentioning in a youtube video that it was the bulb itself. I don't think it was the intention, but the bulbs he bought light up only when the blinker is bing used. It looked cool so he kept them.

i believe its because of the LED turn signals.

The angel eyes use a ballast, correct? Since there are two angel eyes per headlight, are you guys running one ballast for both rings, or two separate ballasts per headlight?

There are two ballasts. One for each set of rings

I have an LED setup just like Andrew. If you replace both front turn signal bulbs with LED's they will not stay light when the parking lights are on. They just blink when activated. You will also lose the functionality of having the rings blink when locking/unlocking your car.

FYI - Mine are wired to my parking lights as well and I drive with the parking lights and fogs on every time I go anywhere unless unless I need full head lamps

So they come packaged as a set of two rings (for one headlight) and are setup that both rings run off of a single ballast?

Yes, when you buy the angel eyes as a kit, they provide you with one ballast per pair of rings. The ballast has one connection for power in and two connections out to go to the rings

Maybe eventually, when I find time to mess with the extra set of headlights I have.

Couldn't you just run them off reserve power from the radio? Of course, at a minimum that means running a wire from the radio or power windows to the angel eyes. But that would give you the effect you want. Wonder if the reserve power runs anywhere under the hood. Going through the firewall would be a real PITA.

Doesn't necessarily need to be reserve power though. As long as you can get KOEO and enough juice to push a relay you should be fine. Still more work then parking lights though :)

You can typically use the fuel pump as a trigger for something like that.

The posters above are correct. Good lookin' out fellas!

Just like bullschmidt said, the LEDs lose parking light bulbs. But keep the orange LED sidenarkers. It looks schweeetttt!

+1^^^

Just get 4 led amber bulbs, 2 up front and 2 in the rear, and they wont come with with the angel eyes.

The angel eyes do NOT use a ballast.

edit: let me be specific, the Umnitza angel eyes do not require or have a ballast.

^ and that's how everyone should be rolling all day until it's too dark to do it lol

Nothing looks harder at dusk

Looks good. Is it required to have amber when the lights are on?

I'm ordering LED turn signals now.

I was just looking at kits also, I may want to do it also. What kits do you guys suggest??? I thought I remember someone saying in the past they had rings burn out, and that would require the lights to be taken apart again to replace, so least problems the better.

Thanks guys! I'll order the turn LED's when I get the rest of the LED's later this summer/fall.

Lookin' forward to it!

Tru - the lights are on and nobody is home!
