Dennis Reinhart told me that the 3.5" would be good enough and I'm putting 4.10's in mine
No, I called both Denny's and Dynotech, and they are not. Apparently the demand (GM and Ford) isn't there right now, so the alloy for the MMX tubing isn't being made right now.
This is why I will probably be sending my driveshaft back to dynotech for shortening.
It has nothing to do with demand from FORD, GM, or Kia.
Alcoa (the co. that made the tubing the shafts were made from) is not making the tubing anymore. Cost vs. profits and stuff like that.
Yes, yes I do. Alcoa stopped making that particular tubing about 2 years ago.
And just out of curiosity, what manufacturers used tat particular tubing for driveshafts in factory vehicles? Which models?
I just wanted in on the being-an-a-hole party.
I would like to have a lighter driveshaft to save weight
The two piece shaft is a PILE....
That's not becoming of you. You don't strike me as an a-hole.
The one piece honestly doesn't seem that much better. It seems like if a 2 piece starts vibrating at 80 with stock gears, a 1 piece will start vibrating at 80 with 4.10s. Might be OK for some of you guys back East where the speed limits aren't 75, but I'm going with a 4" sooner or later.
I sold my '93 OEM one piece shaft to a Gen2 owner with vibration problems and it cured his vibrations.![]()
