03 Cobra Heads

That goes without saying. No heads would just be slapped on without first going to a machine shop and getting checked or money changing hands.
 
Yes they had problems with some of the 2003 heads having a hot spot and warping the valve seat.
03/04 dont matter. There are many myths regaurding these heads. Some people say the blue strype painted shows it to be a new revised head but thats BS too. I hung out all the time with the 03/04 guys and even very late production 04 cars have had the tick.

Its the valve guides that overheat and if you are having the head redone anyway then it dont matter.

What causes the issue is there is nowhere for the coolant to go when it hits #7&8 cylinders. Ford screwed the pooch on that one. The fix is to pop out the freeze plug in the back of the drivers head or the freeze plug on top of the back of the head and add one of the cooling mods that taps ionto the heater lines on the passenger side.
 
Didn't the 03s have the shorter plug holes as well
 
no you got the last of the 200,000 mile stuff. the best part is, that motor with a million miles i sold you is better than your low mile blown up boat anchor.
