    Pause For A Second

It's Spring again, my classes are over, and I have a lot of free time. So I decided to write a small ode to my car. In a world where we're paying 4 dollars per gallon for gas, it's truly hard to appreciate how fun driving is. When I was in High School, I can remember driving was the pinnacle...

    Brakelamp

Not odd at all. This way they don't have to take the trouble the design tail lights that can be removed by customers easily and they can profit off the parts markup through the dealer networks

    Brakelamp

I know this has probably been covered, but I just got a CHECK LEFT BRAKE LIGHT warning. I see the bulb in the bulbs list in the manual but there are two brake lamps listed. Also, it says to go to the dealer to get it replaced, but I think you'd have to be really desperate to pay that much for a...

    Hydraulic Fan

No real question here. I had to replace my hydraulic fan (this was the problem I had previously posted about and thought was a thermostat error). It cost me just over $1000, but luckily the extended warranty covered a little over half. Apparently they only pay for their approved labor rates...

Why Am I Seeing Lincoln Losing Races

Unless it's an LSE. In which case it will say LSE regardless of engine type.

    Shocking MPG

Well, short of moving I can't really do anything about the short trips. I always heard warming up your car beforehand wastes more gas. I guess there might not be a lot I can do. In response to an earlier comment, $25 a week is a big deal for me. I'm still in college (GO VOLS!) so I can...

    Shocking MPG

I had a 2wd Titan Crew Cab as a rental and that thing CHUGGED gas. I spent $40 in 5 days just driving the two miles to work and back a few times. Was a very decent drive though and if it weren't ugly as sin on the inside, I'd probably get one as a post-grad vehicle when I can afford the gas.

I sometimes get my 6's and 9's mixed up!

The Mechanic Screwed Me Now Hes Gonna Pay

Take him to court. If he lied to you about the mileage, he is breaking the law. A lot of states have specific laws about this. Make sure you can gather some proof though. When I go to strange people for car service, I always take a very small inexpensive digital voice recorder to record...

The Mechanic Screwed Me Now Hes Gonna Pay

Not to be a little girl, but can you start posting using normal English rules. Try some punctuation and lose the capital letters on every single word. It will make it easier to read. That being said, if he gave you a lower mileage engine and a warranty and did not charge you for the work...

    Shocking MPG

I get barely 26 MPG driving at 70 across the state. I'll check out my coils and also check out a thermostat sensor thats been acting up. Perhaps I have a dud electrical system. I'm getting about 250 miles per tank, if that

    Shocking MPG

I was actually thinking about that today. I don't ever warm up my car before I leave so it might take longer for the car to warm up than it takes me to get where I'm going. But I think leaving it idle for 5 minutes would be just as bad on gas. I'm pretty heavy on the gas pedal as I'm really...

    Shocking MPG

it's actually due for a 60k tune up but i've been doing it in pieces over the last 3k miles and most everything related to the powertrain is done (except tranny flush)

    Shocking MPG

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. The normal stuff seems alright. I'm also having issues with my thermostat and recently had some major electrical work doen so i'll just go ahead and take it in.

    Shocking MPG

SO I've been doing some teesting and I've found out that lately I've been getting around 8-10 MPG during my daily driving. I realize that economy is going to be low because everywhere I go on a regular basis is in city stop and go traffic. However, I never leave a 2 mile radius from my house...

    Garage Door Opener

Sorry to bring up old posts but I thought I'd chime in with my Electrical Engineer in training opinion. Garage door openers work on RF technology. RF is extremely sensitive to the environment. Temperature does affect radio but not to a noticeable degree. What's more likely is interference...

    Alpine Vs. Mach 460

I was just curious as to where the "Alpine) Audiophile system on the 00-02 LS's sits in relation to the Mach 460 and Mach 1000 stereos offered on the Mustang and Expedition (probably more models but not sure) My Expedition has the premier MACH stereo system with a single 8 sub and it sounds...

they hit my car again! twice in 30 days! u've gotta b kidding me! pics

Yeah I'm going to have to say the whole situation seems really sketchy. I think dealing with the insurance is the only way to go. As long as you were not in the car at the time, there is no possible way it could be your fault. You shouldn't have to pay a dime and further more, you should get...

Bad Alt or Dead Batt Cell?

Well I just got the diagnostic from the shop. It turns out there was a section of wire harness burned, melted, and shorted out near the shifter (wtf?). Battery and alt checked fine. Damndest thing I've ever heard of. $262 initial estimate. In response to the car warm up comments: I...

Bad Alt or Dead Batt Cell?

Thanks for the help. It's going into the dealership today as soon as AAA can get a truck out to tow it. Hopefully it will be covered under my extended warranty so I'll only have the $200 deductible.
