What the heck??? ETC engine fail safe mode

For how cheap you can get them on Amazon, it's almost worth going cheap and changing them every 15k miles...

That makes sense. There was a white plastic thing that must have been the label at some point.

Just a note on the CD changer fix, you have to remove the whole top unit because it's almost impossible to plug the ribbon cable into its socket just from the side. Another thing to note, is that the ribbon cable going from the bottom portion to the top was covered in some kind of sticky...

Blown Sub in back? Buzzing Noise!

Done. All you need is a 6mm socket and a short extension. In my case I used a 6mm nut driver and a 1/4 socket. 10 minutes later, you're done

Blown Sub in back? Buzzing Noise!

I can 100% vouch for not removing the rear seat to get at these speakers. I have an 05 with THX and all you be to do is push back on the front of the metal speaker grill to remove them, then the 4 bolts that hold the speakers in are readily accessible. In fact, I'm going to go out and replace...

    DCCV connector

Yea what I ended up doing is just that. I tried a local junk yard but they didn't have the exact same plug. I pulled a plug from a ford focus that I thought was the same, but it wasn't. So I was able to get the old plug apart and crimp some new wires in it. It certainly isn't the best fix, but...

    DCCV connector

Last weekend I spent about 5 hours replacing all of cooling system plastic parts. By the way, I dont get all the fuss about those spring hose clamps - they are all very well behaved for me... Anyway, after I got it all filled and bled, I was getting nothing but hot air from both sides like I had...

What did you do to your LS today?

Stretched the legs a bit around Watkins Glen raceway. I think we got into triple digits but honestly the best part was taking the chicane in 2nd and grabbing the upshift into the carousel at full throttle.

Oh joy, my degas bottle failed today! I already had one, but it was a cheap one and it really wasn't worth it because i didn't know the little nipple that the bleed hose mounts to didn't have a plug in it. I get a mile down the road and the car starts overheating again because it puked all...

I also now have working AC! When I bought the car, the DCCV was bad so I couldn't verify the AC was working. After replacing the DCCV and no cold air, I took it to get checked and discovered a massive hole in one of the lines that runs from the firewall behind the intake manifold down along the...

I fixed my CD player! When I bought the car, I couldn't load or eject any CDs and if I tried, it would say CD ERROR in the top left corner, so today I pulled out my head unit and started taking it apart. I won't explain how to remove it because that's been done before, but below is a little bit...

    Tail Lights

I sprayed some tail lights with this method way back when I was a teenager. It's really not that difficult, but it is permanent. The stick on stuff is really hard to get perfect but it almost always looks good from 10 feet away and is easy to take off and do again.

02 LS Sport V8 Check Traction, Park Brake, ASB Light?- Help

It would be a good idea to get all of your codes read. I had ABS and traction control warning lights on due to a faulty wheel speed sensor.

LKQ Pick Your Part is near you. I have been fortunate to live near several self-service junkyards wherever I have lived, but I'm not sure that is the norm

The misfire threw a code. When I bought it, the check engine light, traction control, and ABS lights were all on, so I had the codes read and they were the misfire and right rear wheel speed sensor. So, coils, plugs, and a wheel speed sensor from the local pull-a-part yard fixed everything.

The previous owner 'fixed' the grill by fastening some wire mesh to the front. If you look closely at the pictures you can see a broken vertical slat behind the mesh just to the driver's side of the lincoln emblem. I have plans to replace the broken inner part of the grill with some 10ga...

    Progress of '05 LS

First, after a little while lurking around, I would like to formally introduce myself. My name is Alan and I have had the LS on my mind ever since I saw one in my old neighborhood many, many years ago. I think the LS has beautiful proportions and an understated but classic design. After...

    Dccv and THX problem

Yes I am well aware but its not in the cards right now. I estimate I have about another grand in plastic cooling system parts, harmonic balancer, and timing chain tensioners before all of the big preventative maintenance is done so I'll just keep chipping away at it.

    Dccv and THX problem

Crap. Thanks for the quick response. I hope this is the last piece of the puzzle to get this car really up and running... I thought I knew finicky cars but, so far, it's putting my 90s turbo 4wd 4ws car to shame.

    Dccv and THX problem

So I have a really weird issue with the dccv making the nav screen and speakers wierd. When the dccv is plugged in, the touch screen has lines that crawl up and down and the speakers (sounds like the right side more than the left) have a static sort of buzz. I tried to catch it in a video but...
