    For Sale 1993 Mark VIII

It is time to move on and sell my 1993 Mark! I am the second owner, it has 74,900 miles and it has never been driven in winter. I bought it when it had 45,000 miles and have owned it about 5 years. The interior is black and it is in excellent condition. Everything is in working order including...

    Air Ride Vs Conversion

Jim, I talked with John Temple some years ago I remember him saying that same thing about driving a Mustang (or Thunderbird) if my air suspension broke down. I'll check the Super Coupe Performance as another option. I thought resale is affected by having an air ride system vs not having one. Are...

    Air Ride Vs Conversion

So, would you say the majority of Mark VIII are converted? Probably since the only option is rebuilt air springs and the cost involved. I'll check out the air springs Westin company and see what they get. If I end up converting, I'll take your suggestion of bagging, unplugging, etc. for the next...

    Air Ride Vs Conversion

Hello All, I am at a crossroads with my Mark VIII. It has 66k miles on it and in great shape but the front air bags are leaking and need to be replaced or repaired (if that is possible). Although it was difficult to locate them, I found two new ones for $220 each. I really like the air ride...

    Buzzing from my speakers

I mean that if you call Crutchfield, they will give you all models that fit in the Mark VIII spot easily. Back in the day, it was a science fitting and bolting one in. The radio pops out in two seconds and the new one slides in on the metal rack beneath the existing stereo in the dash. They also...

    Buzzing from my speakers

Not sure about your starting and alarm issues but some sort of connection probably possibly. If your stereo is buzzing and cracking and getting loud then I also believe amp and possibly head unit or both. Mine started doing this and it was time for a new head unit. This also means speakers and...

Power Seat Motor brushes - 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII

Power Seat Problem RESOLVED I wanted to update and finish this thread. Marked8, you are correct that motors almost never go bad. I will say I jumped into this and assumed the problem was the motor being dirty and the brushes being bad. But, I took the time to troubleshoot this the correct way...

JBL Sound System on 93 Mark

I wanted to follow up and finish this thread. I couldn't use the new stereo to amp conversion wire harness because I discovered that the amp was also inop. I installed the JVC stereo I mentioned in the post above and then bought and installed four 6x8 coaxial speakers. I got the last for at...

Power Seat Motor brushes - 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII

Hi Marked8, Thanks for your input on this. I had used lithium grease on the rails and when I pulled the seat out, I checked them for coins, etc., but found nothing. The gears all looked fine as well - nothing jammed or broken. When it was installed, it wouldn't make any clacking sound or any...

Power Seat Motor brushes - 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII

Hello everyone! Well, my driver's side power seat won't go frontwards or backwards anymore (the seat tilt and the up and down still work). I could hear the switch click so I knew it wasn't the switch so I took all three motors apart and cleaned them. I believe the middle motor controls the...

JBL Sound System on 93 Mark

Thanks for the info David! After doing some looking, I found that I have to say bye-bye to the 10 position CD player but I can keep the amp if I get some wiring kits. Here is a deck and accessories that will allow me to tie into the amp and get a single position CD with USB and Bluetooth! All of...

JBL Sound System on 93 Mark

Hello, My stereo started popping and cracking, then it died but I see that the CD and radio were playing but I wasn't getting any sound. The next time I started the car, the stereo was working in the background of serious engine noise and feedback. I replaced the amp (I have two) and it...

1997 Mark VIII updates with pics

Funny you mention eating alternators! I replaced the first one like my story but a few months later, I replaced it again. The diodes were bad so I got it for free (lifetime warranty). That's all good but I don't want to replace it again and again. I may have to go to Motorcraft the next time, thanks!

1997 Mark VIII updates with pics

Hi, I have added some pics of my recent projects. The first picture shows the air resonator and the air muffler that I took off from the top of the engine (resonator) and underneath the air filter (muffler/restrictor). Not too bad of a job, maybe 40 minutes to remove the tire to get at the...

    Mark VIII updates!

Thanks! Greg, thanks for writing and giving me advice to post pictures. I get busy with work, family and then jump on my projects to finish them because of lack of time. I will take pics of some of what I was writing about and post again. Then, I will take pictures and post them when I work on...

    Mark VIII updates!

Hi everyone, Just wanted to share some work that I have completed since buying my 1993 Mark VIII. I bought it about three years ago with 45k miles on it and now is close to 55K (summer driver). 1. Recently replaced the MLP/TR sensor (posted in General Threads) to fix transmission slip...
