    Fuel door release switch.

Went to fill up with gas, yesterday, and the button to my fuel door release had fallen off somewhere. I already know that I can't get the switch at O'reillys or Autozone, but have to pay about $39.00 thru the dealership. Does anyone know if this is just a pull out plug, or do you have to take...

Book hours for mechanic to change steering rack?

2nd thought, I was quoted 3 1/2 to 4 hours on labor. Based on what your shop charges per hour, can make a difference. Mechanic I went with was $ 210.00 less on labor than the 2nd most competitive.

Book hours for mechanic to change steering rack?

I got 3 different estimates, and went with the $246.00 labor estimate. The rack is going to cost me $164.00 from O'reilly's. $410.00 overall is good compared to the estimates. I received from 2 other shops. Thanks to all who responded. If anyone has an opinion on this price, I'd like to know...

Book hours for mechanic to change steering rack?

Just noticed power steering fluid on the inner tie rod hood and think I'm going to have to replace the steering rack, unless it turns out to be the pressure hose located above it. My question is: Does anyone have access to the labor hours book/software, that tells how many hours they allocate...

    Check ride control computer message

The conversion was done before I bought the car. I just found out, that the shop that did the oil change 2 days ago, turned the switch in the trunk, and that's what caused it to change from air suspension disengaged, to check ride control. I turned the switch back, and my computer is now...

    Check ride control computer message

The air suspension system in my car, was changed out to springs, and everytime I start the car, the message Check ride control comes on. All I have to do is hit reset, and it goes away, but is there anyway to keep this from coming up every time the car is started? If anyone has a solution, I...

    Oil and oil changes

My owners manual for my 99 continental calls for motorcraft 5w30 every 5000-7500 miles. I've been doing it every 3000 miles, am I wasting money? Thanks, Bill.

Im thinking about getting a 1999 Conti

Bought my 99 continental in feb 2008 with 55000 miles on it. One month shy of 2 years, I've put 26000 miles on it. Owned 2 cadillac sevilles before this continental, and the lincoln has been a much better vehicle. I do regular maintenance, and had the transmission fluid changed, not flushed...

    Check brake lamps

My computer just started giving me this message each time I start my car. I've made sure the brake lights are working, but the computer keeps bringing this up, and I don't know how to clear it. Anybody have any ideas? Car is a 1999 Conti. No other problems and this isn't major, just...

    air conditioning

I just had the same problem with my 99 conti, and took to my mechanic yesterday. I do have a leak, and it took 12 oz of R134 a. He said that this could last thru the summer or next, or just a couple of weeks. His suggestion was to see how long the recharge lasts, and then make a decision. If...

    Small Brake fluid leak.

Today was my lucky day. Mechanic showed me where the water is funnelled into a cowling along the fire wall with a hose to shed excess water. Turns out hose was kind of plugged and was still dripping water from the area directly near the brake hoses. Blew out the hose and everything is great...
